Thrifty always stamp first then cut out. I am very lucky to have some nesties for my Cuttlebug and a Xcut guilotine, but for years I just used a steel ruler and a craft knife. I also use DST for sticking paper to card.0

Flourgirl - roof is fixed
have just been to check the wet patch and is definitely shrinking - really need to get the dehumidifier up there but I can't carry it up the stairs.
Thanks for the freebie link Marg
Am deffo going to make some cards tonight - my mad about cards order arrived - 66 items for £40 including next day delivery- last night and I want to try the large snaps I bought if I can figure out which settings to use on my big bite :rotfl:.
Have sent OH to the pub so I can have some peace. :rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Evening ladies!
Been very absent from the pc lately - 2 nativities and 2 works dos so far this week, and I've just spent a lovely day in Gullivers Land today visiting Santa - but I'm tired!!
I've skimmed through and not even looked at blogs, but couldn't not say a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Popkins (hope Barcelona is fab), but more than that a very happy CONGRATULATIONS to Craftygranny, what wonderful news.
Rusty, hope your back improves again soon, just make sure you try and take it easy (yeah right!).
Haven't really done any crafting for ages (apart from loads of laminated bookmarks with various school children!). My study is a mess and I think I need to get that straight and finish organising Christmas before I can think of papercrafting. Mojo well and truly buried!!0 -

Next question - when you stamp an image, do you stamp first, then cut your shape or stamp onto a pre-cut card-shape. As I don't have any uber-cutting-gizzmos yet, how do I cut a neat square or rectangle. Are there any tricks or do I raid my daughter's pencil case and borrow her ruler, protractor and compass - it's been a lonnnggg time since I did geometry...
Thx again, Thriftyxxx
I agree with flourgirl. Definitely stamp first but don't cut until your image is properly dry. I do have a guillotine but think it might be a bit skewiff. I frequently use a steel ruler and craft knife with a SHARP blade (renew blades frequently). If you have a self-healing cutting mat with grid lines on it's a doddle. To stop your card moving about on the mat you can use some sticky tape but get most of the sticky off by pressing on your jeans/jumper first. There'll be no problem with pearlescent card but take the sticky tape off very carefully so as not to lift the surface off your card.

Hello all................only just logged on so quick catch up with everything
rainmac = ((((hugs)))))........sinusitus is horrible.......OH has suffered badly with that in the past......hope it clears up soon.
craftygranny - brilliant news........I'm so pleased :T
After major panic to get little grandsons christmas card done I got phone call from foster daughter this afternoon to ask if I'd mind putting off doing the 'santa run' to my sons till next week. She';s been in bed with a virus -what sort heaven knows. She swears the GP says its a virus when he really doesn't know. She's feeling a lot better but lost a lot of sleep during the week with coughing and is worried that if she doesn't sleep tonight and with the fog forecast might not be wise to drive.......I agree with her and rather she didn't take any chances. More important that she gets well.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Hi Jammy,
I've made some easel cards that are bigger than 4" x 4".
To make a 5" x 5" you need to cut the card 10" long by 5" wide. Then score at 2.5" and then again at 5". This would leave you with a base of 5". You would then make another square 5" x 5" to become the bit that you put your stamp, embellishments etc, and stick this to the first 2.5" side once you have folded at the scores (hope that makes sense).
To make a card 6" x 6" you would have to cut the care 12" long by 6" wide and score at 3" and 6", and again make another square that is 6" x 6".
To make a 7" x 7" you would cut the card at 14" by 7" wide and score at 3.5" and 7".
To make a 8" x 8" you would cut the card at 16" by 8" wide and score at 4" and 8".
Hope this helps.
x2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000
