Well ladies I feel like crying - I've just spent over an hour reading through the thread and writing a reply only to lose it all - so I'll try and write this from memory so I'm really sorry if I miss anyone out! I haven't been around for a bit - I keep coming on and try and write a reply and either Elliot wakes up or the OH or the kids want me for something. I've also been trying to de-clutter the house a little bit in preparation for xmas - plus we're getting a new couch delivered tomorrow so I've been trying to sort out the lounge.

Thanks for all your "congratulations" for winning the blog candy - I was chuffed to bits when I'd seen that I'd won - I was about to give up entering things too 'cos I never seem to win. My prize arrived today and I can't wait to use it all - I don't know how the lady can afford to give so much away - my prize was worth at least 20 quid.

I wondered if anyone had heard anything from Hels- she's my swap over on crafty place for the xmas present swap but I've heard nothing from her - I presume she's really busy getting everything sorted for the wedding.

Mary - glad to hear that you are feeling better and that your OH's visit at the hospital went okay.

Sally - your creations look fabulous - love the candy canes on your snowman soup and your nappy cake is great - I can't believe its your first!

Craftygranny - congrats on taking so much at the craft fair and to Thomas for raising so much - and to Danielle - my goodness - twins!!!!

Rusty - some gorgeous cards on your blog - love your easel card - and your "all the css" card - I love those papers - and I can't stop using that cc design stamp.

    Mydamena - welcome back!!!!

A bit welcome to all the newbees - I hope you stay with us!!!!

The_Wife - I'm really sorry I haven't got your ATC done yet too - I am really behind with everything at the minute!!!!

Popkins - sorry your Mum was so insensitive about your xmas cards - I thought they were great!!!

Louby_Lou-Lou - sorry to hear that your craft fair didn't go as well as you hoped - some people have no taste - don't let it discourage you!!!!

Ali - yes it was me that went to the wrestling - I loved it - it was the first one that I've ever been to. I got the 50 quid tickets and my seats were fantastic - but with 3 of us going it was really expensive!!! It was great fun though and really entertaining!!

I'm a computer programmer and work in an office full of men who just don't appreciate my crafty conversations or when I want to pop into the craft shop at lunch time! I've made them all Christmas cards this year, but I will probably get nothing in return :( Men huh?

Snap! I do SQL Programming and work in a team full of blokes who just think i'm mad. When the test tubes to make the Jingle Beans got delivered at work they got it into their heads I was making test tube babies for some reason lol  I'm 20, no kids and live at home with my Mum & little brother (though he's miles bigger than me at 6' 4") - my OH lives in Basingstoke though which isn't far from you x

Haha it must be that we all need a creative outlet after all the methodical programming! I only really do SQL (all learnt on the job) and HTML but would love to learn C#, ASP, etc x

Hi girls, for all you with Cuttlebugs I've found this great site, really reasonable prices and no matter how small your order postage is free. Delivered to me recorded within a couple of days. Actually on inspection it's more than Cuttlebug stuff but that's what I was searching for. MrsTidge/Glittermum - NO BUYING till after Christmas!! ;) Bookmark but don't touch!

eta: Would help if I gave you the link wouldn't it? doh! http://www.cuttingedgecrafts.co.uk

That is exactly it for me.

Our company builds mainly horse racing websites for betting on horses. I program in Ruby, Rails, javascript, html, css but also know some java, jsp, php, xslt. Bit of everything really but not really an expert in one thing.

I also get wierd looks with some of my deliveries. They get very curious about my packages. They were really stumped when I got my cellophane wrap for my hampers. They couldn't figure out what the shape was. I told them it was a light saber.

@melissa, congrats on your win. That is very generous craft candy. A tip for you, when you do write a really long reply, just copy it first :)
  • Just a quick post from me as I am trying to hurry my gran up to go out and pick up the advent calendars (anyone else struggling to find cadburys ones this year? none in my asda/tescos or morrisons!!! whats going on!! bet you could have got them in woolworths!!)

Anyway I have made these quick christmas easel cards ;) Please can you tell me where I went wrong with them? I think it is just because the shades of blue on the paper doesn't match the shades of blue on the decoupage?? I have another 4 to do so they will have to do!!!

Oh my - I wasn't around yesterday and look at how much chat has been going on! I've skimmed through so thank you for the welcomes.

I'll add a bit to the getting to know you chat.

My name is Susan and I'm 61 with two children and five grandchildren aged between 6 and 14. I live at the seaside on the north-west Wales coast in a house with lovely sea and mountain views. We're originally from Birmingham. Until last year OH and I had a restaurant here which we ran for 15 years, now forced to retire through OH's ill health and moved to a house which we had renovated. I have a blog for the renovation.

Mary-op - I picked up on your post about your OH and I can empathise. My OH has been battling an incurable condition for almost two years, 6 months of chemo last year didn't bring about the remission prayed for and after a further 5 chemos he is now in the recovery stage of a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant. He has been in hospital since early October and we're hoping he may be home for Christmas. No idea yet if there will be a better prognosis after this treatment. I will keep you and your OH in my thoughts.

If I can catch up on my housework (oooh, dirty word :rotfl: ) today then I'm hoping to start on a couple of Christmas cards. I haven't crafted for about 18 months and am hoping to get back into it but my cards don't come near those on the blogs linked too. I will have to catch up on the latest trends and try something new! I am awaiting delivery of a Cuttlebug so hopefully that will kickstart some inspiration.

P.S. Rusty - Just had a look at your easel cards, I think they're lovely. I see you say they're quick and easy to make, do you have a link to any simple instructions for them? I'd love to have a go.
