Thanks Melissa!
What blogs do you suggest? I'm trying to look through the last few pages of the thread and have bookmarkled some of the links provided so far, but ther maybe a bit too far advance for me at the moment!!
I'm not explaining myself very well! And silly me only took a photo of one of my cards! (which is currently in the camera at home).
Like for example, I picked up a few baby embellishments that were in a pack that was in the sale in Rymans.. 49p!
So one is a wee cute heart that says 'as cute as a bug' on it... So i have that and I have a plain cream card.. and then I'm like hmmm.. how do i make this look more fancy..?
I bought papers that were sale in tescos, and I'm, like okay.. do i cut that down to make a square in the middle of the card and then stick the embellishment in the middle.. I did that and it looked okay but it wasn't like woah! amazing...! I see folks cards with borders round papers round embellishments and I get all confuzzled!!!0 -

Hi everyone, thank you for the welcome last week and sorry I haven't been back since. My 3yr old dd has been poorly with a nasty chesty cold so was huggled on the sofa with her most of the weekend, ds2 (18) left home
and now I've got the cold too. Had a day off sick yesterday but back in work today.
Sooo I've not done much on the card front (have been crocheting and knitting though). I've had a look at lots of blogs, but what I'm wondering now is what equipment (bearing in mind I'm a bit skint!) should I be looking at buying first? We have a Range in our town, and I've spotted lots of lovely things in there, but haven't bought anything yet lol.

Flourgirl - Thank you! bit too late for us to get over for a cuppa but would love to see any pics you get......do you fell like ducking when the planes come over or are you used to it?
Kelda - Welcome! This is part 2 of a thread! I think I know what you mean - if so, we tend to cut, say a piece of plain coloured (bazill) card just a bit smaller than the card then a pretty paper a bit smaller than that & stick them on the card in layers. Then cut another piece of plain card just a bit bigger than your embelishment put your embelishment on that and stick it all together. Not very easy to explain but just build it up layer by layer. HTH......0 -
Thankyou! I need to buy some card then! I only have papers! it's just getting ideas to start with isn't it.. also can you buy we sqaares of the foamy stuff to stick your embelishments on?

Kelda - yes! I usually get mine (foam pads or in a roll )from pound shops you will also need some double sided sticky tape.0

Kelda - welcome to the madhouse, we are all lovely but beware that the spendy elves are released on a regular basis and if they visit you then they can be very costly :rotfl:
Melissa - I am still looking for little boy blue papers, can't believe only one shop has them stocked at the minute?? not sure if she is a good price or not which is why I am holding out! Did you get any sense about the october afternoon papers?
Sorry if I have missed anyone my laptop keeps shutting itself down so I can see that I will be sending it back to HP!
I have had to take DD to the doctors this morning, she keeps waking up screaming and complaining of her ears hurting her which generally is the start of an ear infection, apparently she has a nasty headcold and her throat is all swollen inside Dr said she is suprised that she is eating or drinking  oh and she also has conjunctivitus again  I give up, she is always poorly
Edit: Craftygranny I am so sorry I completely missed your post! Glad Alicia arrived safely, if you need various noises for Carly then I can bring my children to visit, they can do a whole variety or noises from whinging/moaning to crying and screamingGood luck to you all xxx

Nannyboo - sounds like you've had a horrid few weeks, hope things get better.x
Craftygranny - really pleased to hear your good news.
The - Wife - sorry your poorly again.Hope you feel better soon.x
Flourgirl - congratulations on your win
Popkins - hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your pink cuttlebug.
Kelda_Shellton - welcome to the thread. I've only just started making cards and started by looking at blogs of people from here and then looking at the people they are following. I found it a great help and source of inspiration. It helped me decide what I did and didn't want to achieve. Re the foam pads, I got the Create & Craft branded multi-sized ones from Wilkinsons for about £0.89.
Claireac - sorry your poorly. I got my basic equipment list together using the guide at the back of one of the cardmaking mags (I think it might have been Papercraft Inspirations). I have to say it has proved useful.
Sorry if I've missed anyone out.0 -
Popkins - sorry to hear you're sick too!!!! Just keep looking at your new cuttlebug - it'll cheer you up!!!
Kelda-Skelton - I'd definately get loads of cardstock!!! I have got loads - I buy 12x12 sheets of bazzill cardstock, but you could use any card. I've also got heaps of patterned papers - paper pads are a great way to start because all the sheets co-ordinate - basic grey do a fab range!!! To decorate your cards you could either use buttons, or paper flowers or adhesive gems!! Let me know if you want some links to some shops.
Clairac - I would definately say that the most useful bit of equipment I've got is my xcut guillotine. I've got the 12inch version. My other bit of kit that I use often is my pokey tool or paper piercer. They're really cheap - I don't use it for piercing but for using gems - its really handy for lifting them off their backing film.0
