Also am one a waiting list to do an accounts course at the college 2nd on waiting list but will cost 350 pounds which is a lot and I'm scared I will run out of money completeley and rely on my OH. :(

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time.. just a quick thought, have you checked if you can get the course cheaper/ free if you're on Jobseekers? As long as you are on it when you enrol/ start the course I think you should be able to.

df, go the the student welfare office, they may have funds to help students who are on low incomes. i was and had the course fees for my diploma course paid for by the college fund, for both years.

They said I might be able to get on the course as it was a course with no fee remission so lots of people would probably drop out 'cos they can't afford it. Lol.
Yesterday was a spend day - spent a couple of pounds on a bus ticket.
    Today NSD

It's not like I buy much - well tbh when you get up at 11am/12pm and go bed at 9pm that's not much chance! and with not going anywhere everyday is NSD. I buy a magazine once a month (or less) and a few bus tickets here and there and maybe the odd meal out but that really is about it. I feel sick just thinking about it all today.
I have tried to save all my life and all I want is a job after leaving uni - o.k I've only got my student overdraft and student loan and a degree but I haven't been partying or on holiday or dirnking or clubbing or anything - I don't even have a social life at all.

Thanks scaredy cat but I already have a degree (not that it's much use right now even though its maths and computing) so not sure I would qualify and it's a part time evening course. Just looking to get out of the house really and learn a skill so at least I have some shot at the jobs as they come up. They all seem to want accounts experience and experience of this and a drivning licence and be able to stand on your head :(

Ah right. If you get on, will they let you pay it up in installments, might make it a bit easier?

I think you should be really proud of all those NSDs - would be very easy to try and 'drown your sorrows' in shopping - been there, done that! :o

How about trying to find some free things to take up your time? I've just got some free cinema tickets on here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=606589 - what about walking/ running to get you out in the fresh air.. might feel like the last thing you want to do at the moment but it might help lift your mood a bit.

thanks Notty :D Fab to see you round these parts again :D

dancing fairy - I work in adult learning and if the course is accredited (ie Computerised Accounting Level 1/2/3, SAGE or something similar and I'm guessing it is) the college will have a fund for learners on benefits and low incomes. Ask to speak to someone about this, we have a dedicated officer for it and the money is for fees for this kind of course, childcare, bus fare, books etc. It doesn't matter that you already have a degree, where will you be studying? Adult learning (ie evening classes), the local further education college or university?

I'm surprised there is no concessionary fee for the course, we have them for learners on benefits, must be the way it is funded.

I suppose that's a good thing - I don't really seem to have an inbuilt shopping button.
Indeed - maybe I can pay in installements for the course - that would help - i will have to ask them.
I think I have that problem that someone has put in their signature - I seem to have been hit with several days all at once. Lol.
I think it is partly the house thing as well. We are going to stay until we are given notice - hopefully LL will sell to an investor but we will have to wait and see - it's the waiting I think - and having to keep tidying up and entertain random people looking around for photos/energy plans/viewings etc - and we don't even want to move.
Hoping to find a job as well but they are a bit thin on the ground right now. Will keeo looking. Am off to go and phone this voluntary place and see if they can make use of me cos' 3 months of sitting around at home is getting to me somewhat.

We have some like that at our place, that get no LSC funding so have no remissions... usually the more fun things like web design, photography, cooking, wine tasting...

yeah, we have loads with no concessionary fees also - like you say Squizz - the fun stuff  If it's accredited though, the government does pay a big chunk of it - is it a certificated course DF?

Definitely ask about instalments. We offer a 60% now, 40% in 10 weeks time for courses over £100, but they will have their own rules (if any).
