Caught Driving Whilst Banned!

Might be a bit pricey, but cant he meet a recovery truck at the compound, prove ownership with all his relevant documents, then get a recovery company to tow the car home? I guess you'd have to weigh that up against the cost of the car.0

Why can't someone else insure the car in their name or do you have to be the registered keeper to insure a car?

Well personally I don't think the law should give him a chance to get his car back. If caught driving whilst banned the vehicle should be lost. The police should be able to sell it on or if old scrap it. But unfortunately I'm not in the government lol.

If I am reading your post correctly...
I suspect it's because once the car is released, the now-insured can then hand the car back to 'the banned' (as they are likely to be buddies) and cancel the car insurance. Voila! The banned driver is back on the road without ever having own insurance again...Well personally I don't think the law should give him a chance to get his car back. Totally agree. The individual also gets to pay for it to be disposed of."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Rather than trying to get the car out, in my opinion the car should be crushed....preferably with the banned, uninsured driver in it.0

bit off topic but anyway, my mum's car was stolen and used in a bank raid. The police insisted on taking the car for forensic examination. This was on a Thursday. No one was available to examin the car until the following Tuesday. When she went to collect it they charged her for 5 days in the pound - even though they had insisted on keeping it.
The police said this was normal and she had to pay. They gave her a reciept and told her to claim from her insurance. As they car wasn't damaged the claim as less than her £200 excess so she couldn't claim.
She was not best , sorry to be off topic, I'll shut up now
