Does wireless router suit our needs?

I have bought this router http://www.netgear.co.uk/dgn2000.php on line and just want to check that I have bought the correct one for our needs, it is replacing an old Thomson speedtouch router.

It will plug into the telephone socket

wired in desktop xp
2 wireless laptops xp and Vista
wireless desktop xp
Xbox live

I don't want to open the box unless I am sure it is going to work,(I was confident last week)
what is worrying me is that it says on the box ADSL2+ , I'm not sure what this means, it also says use with Rangemax wireless N adapters and boost your perfomance and range.
We will have a variety of wireless adaptors so I presume it will still work.
I think I just need reassurance that it will be okay.
Thanks

I can't see any reason why not.
  • I've never had a router that didn't set up as easily as instructed.

Most modems are backwards compatible with usb sticks etc

    I assume you are BT?

You've bought a wireless 'N' router. It will work with your existing wireless adapters which are probably wireless 'G', but only at the slower 'G' speed. In other words, it's backwards compatible, but to get the potential of the faster router you would need to upgrade to wireless 'N' adapters too.
ADSL2+ is fine, that means it will deliver up to 24MBps if you were to upgrade your broadband onto ADSL2+ (which sadly you won't be able to do with Namesco, as they are not going to offer it). But in the meantime it will work fine with plain old vanilla ADSL.

Is there a way to find out if the 2 laptops or Xbox live have 'g' or 'n' adaptors?
    Thanks

Are you using USB adapters?-most recent laptops have built in wireless G. If you tell us the models we might be able to help you.
