Help me choose between these 2 USA fridge/freezers..

I have to say that I simply don't see the point of these "american style" fridge-freezers. They just take up a huge amount of room. I do get the point of them in the US where in many states items we store in a cupboard have to be stored in a fridge otherwise they go off (I'm thinking of stuff like jam, ketchup, mustard, etc), due to the excessive heat for prolonged periods of time. Not a problem we have here in the UK!
Someone I know absolutely hates the american-style fridge-freezer in her kitchen (not her choice) because it is so difficult to store and/or find anything in it. Everything ends up "at the back" because the size of the shelves means they have very little frontage. It's the same for most of the freezer because not every shelf has a drawer. It might not seem annoying when you buy a shiny new toy - but will probably be annoying as h**l once you've had it for six months.
They just seem like a waste of money to me. I also don't see the point of spending excessive money on an appliance that also has to be plumbed in when so much can already go wrong with appliances that absolutely have to be plumbed in (dishwasher, washing machine). I'll stick with my "normal" fridge-freezer for a very long time.

Horses for courses but I love my new glossy black Bosch usa style f/f. I did have to sacrifice having a built in oven to make space for it (got range cooker instead) but I think it was the right choice for us. also I thought the silver ones looked a bit plasticky.
I was worried the freezer would be too small but actually it is bigger than I thought. it is much easier to find things with the open shelves which you can stack packets on, instead of drawers which I had in my old f/f and there is less stooping as more things stored higher up.
Same for the fridge really. Although it is narrower, there is plenty of space between the shelves so you can see to the back easily. The drawers for meat, fruit and veg are much bigger than a standard f/f - we never had enough space for all our salad in a normal f/f salad drawer.
Because of the height, there is more space for bottles and other bits in the door, again we never had enough space for bottles in a normal f/f.
The chilled water/ice dispenser is great, ok it is a bit of a gimmick but we do use it and it does encourage the kids to drink plenty of water.0 -

We have the LG - search for the problems with Samsung on this forum, you'll see lots reasons why not to choose theirs. Saying that, had Samsung at last house no probs.
Reason I wanted LG....
Had to be black to look 'right' in the new house. & once you see the poor finish & non-glossy surface of ALL other black makes, you'll notice LG is far superior. Without getting too 'clever' (being in motor trade makes me aware of this) LG appear to machine polish the doors, but not cabinet, to offer a superior glossy finish. I even use a quality car wax on ours!!
Things you'll find out once you buy it, all the extra lights make it impressive at 2am when you want a drink of water - it even iluminates the dispenser when you put the glass in!!
& as mentioned, do a price check search, before buying. Boots was our choice, for best price & Advantage card points. Also buy on a Nationwide credit card for an extra years warranty, if you've got one.
Don't buy the store warranty, as their is an option in the box, from LG. if you DID want extra piece of mind. But I wouldnt bother.

i find the freezer side of things does look small but after a simple sum i know the majority of them hold 2-3 times more than my current freezerThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0
