Help me choose between these 2 USA fridge/freezers..

Ok have been looking for ages and am now getting cross with myself due to being so indecisive.

First one is this:http://www.sainsburyskitchenappliances.co.uk/product_information.aspx?ProductID=8117&ProductCode=RSH1DTMH_SI&ProdColourID=12394&specification=false#

Pros: smaller depth
Samsung seems to me better make wise but bad reviews on here for some but good on sainsburys
cheaper than other by around £155 one as like the first silver one

Cons:
The possible probs with it
Not seen it in real life!
some of the drinks dispensers can be flimsy

second one is this:
http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0674424576.1249329587@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccddadehmfieddecflgceggdhhmdfhj.0&page=Product&fm=4&sm=2&tm=1&sku=824913&category_oid=-34510

Pros:
Seen it in real life and it is very nice and was £1k have been told this by a few reps now so a good one?
Depth more than the above one only slightly though
we have no window in our dining room so thinking black may be too dark although room well lit if needs to be
one dispenser which isnt flimsy!
we have an lg tv and love it so no worries over brand
looks better inside and better amount of room but not that important

Cons:
Black as i said poss too dark?
slightly bigger than samsung but again will get used to it..
more expensive by about £155..

So Samsung or LG...going to buy tom and really don't know..help!
(oh and please dont reccomend miel etc as not spending more then £800!)
Thanks

I have to say that I simply don't see the point of these "american style" fridge-freezers. They just take up a huge amount of room. I do get the point of them in the US where in many states items we store in a cupboard have to be stored in a fridge otherwise they go off (I'm thinking of stuff like jam, ketchup, mustard, etc), due to the excessive heat for prolonged periods of time. Not a problem we have here in the UK!

Someone I know absolutely hates the american-style fridge-freezer in her kitchen (not her choice) because it is so difficult to store and/or find anything in it. Everything ends up "at the back" because the size of the shelves means they have very little frontage. It's the same for most of the freezer because not every shelf has a drawer. It might not seem annoying when you buy a shiny new toy - but will probably be annoying as h**l once you've had it for six months.

They just seem like a waste of money to me. I also don't see the point of spending excessive money on an appliance that also has to be plumbed in when so much can already go wrong with appliances that absolutely have to be plumbed in (dishwasher, washing machine). I'll stick with my "normal" fridge-freezer for a very long time.

Agreed, they are just a passing fad.

My mate purchased a red one, how garish is that? YUK !!!
  • Having lived in the States for a while, I have to say I grew to *love* these - made coming back to a 'regular' fridge hard!

Very subjective ... but personally I wouldn't go for the black. If your gut is warning you about low light levels/appearing dark - I'd heed it :)

I wanted one of these until I saw a) how expensive they were b) how little freezer space they actually ahd. I ended up buying a larder fridge and matching height freezer, for about £300 less. Don't know the cubic feet as have had it a while but it holds loads.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

    Hi thanks for the replys..

joolz i guess it is down to personal taste and you obviously dislike them!..

Inactive i agree red would be a bit garish although i do love the smeg fridges in funky colours!

Sarah yes the black is now off as being sensible think it will be too dark!

jonejayc think we saw that one..if not the one we did see the same as the link was just too expensive..thats why i think this is a bargain! but if i do get over ill look thanks

Gizmo111 it is for the water and ice tbh! the space isnt much diff to what we have now and tbh there are only 3 of us so not needing tons of it!

Get the LG one, much better than the Samsung (quality wise)

I would get it delievered and put it in your garage. You should then be able to take the doors off (usually tells you how in the instructions) and carry it up in three parts, meaning it's not as heavy for arkward...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
