woolworths security tag

This may not be in the right place so feel free to move it to its right home!
When Woolworths was closing down i, like most other people in the country went in search of a bargain! I brought 3 pairs of school trousers and put them away for this school year coming up (september). Now there is only 5 weeks left i got them out to try on my lad to find a pair has the security tag on!
Now i could bin them and say oh well but there a decent pair and fit him well, I always brought Ladybird uniform for the fit. And I could buy a strong magnet but then for the same amount I could get new trousers!!
Does anyone know where i can get this tag removed or how I can do it myself?
Thank in advance for any help you can give me.

if I was you, I'd try just taking it in to a shop - maybe a shop which definitely doesn't sell kids school trousers, something like topshop or dorothy perkins or another ladies clothes shop - show them the tags and ask if they'll remove it. if you get a friendly enough assistant, i'd imagine they would as long as they're totally sure the clothes don't belong to their shop!0

Some contain inks - not just a matter of using a strong magnet!
do a few searches plenty out there with images of them so you know which type it is and how to remove it.0 -
I would suggest that before you go into a shop to ask them to remove a tag that you phone and speak to the manager first and explain the problem, alot of staff are trained not to remove tags from other shops incase they have been "borrowed" from the other shop. If you speak to someone first you would come across as a customer in need of assistance rather than someone off the street. Hope that makes sense and does not offend anyone

Id never atempt to remove the tags myself, id ask nicely in a shop if they could kindly remove the tags for you, do as the last reply says just to be sure,0

If you regularly use a clothes shop or even supermarket perhaps you could ask when in there next0

I work in Sainsbury's, and someone asked me to remove the tag from an item of clothing.... from tesco, and I did it, they even got to keep the tag
A lot of the removers work universally, so it's worth a try0 -
I managed to prise a woolies one off, it had ink in it too so was lucky that it didnt burst. really couldnt be bothered to do a 20 mile round trip with my receip to get it off a £3 pair of trousers.
I've always bought ladybird kids clothes for the fit too. the new woolies online is in name only, it isnt the same stuff, or if it is, its twice the price! Going to try asda and primark tomorrow0 -
the fact ti will say ladybird woolworths should be good enough for any shop to take it off for you, you may have to nip into a few to find one that has similar ones but everybody knows it closed down dont they so its not like youve been on a shop lifting spree then asking them to do it is it lol
good luckx

Your not meant to do it though. I work for Sainsbury's and someone came in and set the alarm off they found out it was due to a tag that was left on an item of clothing they had purchased. So the person I was with in the Kiosk offered to take it off for them before the Security Guard came over and had a go at him and told him we're not allowed to take tags from other stores off even if the person has a receipt as we can get in trouble with the other store. The store manager came over afterwards as well and said the same.0 -
agreed- its the unsaid rule that shop assistants do not remove tags from other stores- they could get into alot of trouble for doing so!
I would try like helenjelly suggested, call or see the manager first to ask- if its obviously from ladybird/woolworths you may be OK. But if the manager is very "correct" he/she may refuse to do it- so try elsewhere.
It does depend on the tag removal system- its not just a heavy magnet, its also got a fitted slot where the bulge of the tag connects so its actually possible to pull apart the tags.
You may be able to find a store, but if not, pull it apart- it will need to be pulled rather then smashed as its a magnet that holds most tags together- if it leaks dye (which may have dried up anyway) (and not all tags have dye) what have you lost? its not really viable to send your children to school with the tags in place so its not too bad if you don't manage it.0
