Which phone for me? doing my head in...
Can anyone please help - I've been going round in circles as I'm not really up-to-date with what's out there. Basically, I'm looking for a new phone to fit my needs. I'm currently using a nokia n95 8gb which has seen better days (volume control buttons stuck, front camera cracked, very scratched, etc.) with an Asda PAYG sim. What I really want/need:-
I have found the blackberry 8120 on orange PAYG online for £120 and I think (?) I can get 6 months free blackberry bolt-on but seemingly mixed reviews. Am I asking for too much?
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Cheers

- i really need constant (push?) email. id be happy with just email and no web access providing the phone also had wifi so i can connect to home network.
- 3.5mm headphone socket (if this isn't standard these days?)
- tv-out would be good as i use this feature very heavily on the n95 (inc. for connecting to iplayer via wifi and then watching through the tv)
- fm radio - or presumably it'd be possible to listen online if the phone had unlimited web access?
- was looking at iphones/htc hero but i really don't want to be spending that much and they're prob a bit bigger than what im looking for.
- good RSS reader (ideally synched with google reader) - the n95's dreadful but i remember my old SE k800i being very good (not with the synching though)
- decentish camera would be good but not too important.

SE C902?
It seems to have most of the features you're asking for (no wifi)... and apparently a TV-Out too - http://www.superetrader.co.uk/genuine-sony-ericsson-music-cabletv-out-cable-for-c902-mmc60-p-4974.html although I've never used that cable - but am intrigued! It's my current phone, and I'd recommend!0 -
SE C902?
cheers jweb2k - looks like a decent phone but i suppose then im going to have to consider cheapest contract which includes unlimited web as it doesnt have wifi. any recommendations for this sort of contract?
by the way, i find tv-out invaluable so would defo recommend that sort of cable. what size memory has the c902 got cos the 8gb of my current n95 is enough for 10 or so ripped full-length movies.0 -
Much less than that, takes a micro SD card and mine's got 2GB in it. Not sure what size is possible to put in it.
My O2 contract includes one "bolt on" of unlimited web, not sure how much that'll cost you via retailers but there must be a good deal.. I got £110 instant cashback the week it came out so there has to be something around.0 -
If you can go a bit more I would go for the Nokia 5800 on Vodafone.
Either, go through www.Dialaphone.co.uk/youatwork and grab a redemption deal for 12 months. this may cost you about 300 for the 12 month period.
Or, check to see what they do and contact new connections direct on Vodafone and see what they can do to to come near the price.
I've got 600 mins plus unlimited text and internet for a pakage that works out at £300 for 12 months. The phone on PAYG is currently selling for £225.
Phone comes UNLOCKED so after 12 months you can still enjoy the phone with another sim.
You get Radio, WIFI, bluetooth, 3.5mm jack, headphones, TV out cable, 8mb memory card, 3.2mp camera with flash.
It's all touch screen, you can text with querty keyboard, number pad or handwriting. I have browsed the web with mine connected to wifi and mobile internet.
And the best bit - its NOT a Samsunk:DBehind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Hmmmm... nokia 5800... available PAYG at play.com for £159.99 but wouldn't i have to get a contract anyway so I can get internet access? it does however tick all the boxes as to what im looking for. hows the rss on the 5800?0

RSS - I don't do RSS yet.
Maybe someone else could help.
Even at £159.99, how much will you spend on calls, texts, internet in 12 months?
I think you can get internet access via PAYG but I have never done that, there is the small matter of paying for it.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

Internet access (especially email) is prob my most imprtant criteria tbh - it's amazin how much Mb it uses just watching a bit of iplayer. The 5800 on PAYG but but with internet add-on would be great i think. Thanks again0
