Do a credit check and see just how bad your credit rating is and where you can do some quick-fixes to get it up.

I agree that you need to do a credit check on yourself. It is possible that there are also some adverse notes in there which might be in error.

My wife got rejected by Vodafone

She has an excellent credit rating. Just as good as mine in fact. I got 2 contracts. I've never yet been refused a mobile phone due to my credit rating

I have heard their is an easier way though ,

Sign Up to a 30 day contract and than simply upgrade it by ringing them up , No further credit check is needed when you upgrade apparently :)

It's worth a try! oh and don;t forget Quidco if you do it online

My credit rating is pretty bad and I was accepted for sim-only deals online for Orange and T-Mobile while I was still under contract to 3.

I went into the local store and told them that i'd been accepted for a sim-only deal, but would they be able to sort me out with a full contract instead and they did ..
  • Hey i work for 3 if you were looking for a deal we got some excellent deals right now and 3 is the easiest network to get a contract on. PM me if you interested

I also work for three but wont be asking you to PM me to experience my outstanding salesman skills lol

With all contract phones and tariffs a "risk" banding is applied so in order of risk: (smallest risk first)

    1. SIM only contracts
    2. Six Month Deals
    3. 18/24 month contracts with Low spec phone (C510/W595 etc)
    4. 18/24 month contract with High cost/High fraud handset (N97/Blackberry Etc)

If you are having issues with credit my suggestion to customers is always try for a 6 month deal. If you are accepted then you can upgrade to any current deal with no further credit checks after approximately 5 months (as long as you pay your bills obviously lol).

Im sure the other networks work in a very similar way.

So as long as you are sensible and understand that if you have credit problems we are unlikely to let you walk out with a £500 phone on a £35 monthly contract then you should find things much easier.

But as mentioned above, check your credit file as there csan often be mistakes which won't be helping you out.

johnfitz26 - that's a lie. Tried getting on 3 yesterday only to be refused (and then later accepted by Vodafone, who offered me a much better contract and phone)
