Kid's Fancy Dress on a budget!!??

Options
 Just wondering if anyone had ideas for fancy dress costumes for a 17 month old and a 3.5 year old, both boys?
They have a party to go to next week and I was looking at costumes on E-bay, but my oplder son is a bit fussy, so I don't want to spend too much money or time incase he won't put it on!!!
The little one will wear anything.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

a bit tired and maybe your boys are a bit young, but how about jedi knights?

Dark brown robe, with a beige dressing gown type wrap. brown fabric bound around lower legs.

There's no theme as such, it just says fancy dress.(4th Birthday.) The older boy loves Star Wars and Power Rangers, it's just trying to find something around the house that I can utilise. He has a light sabre already, so that might work.Thought maybe some sort of ladybird or animal/creature for the wee one!

how about a bear or a dog for the younger lad?

top and trousers in a suitable colour, then a tail and ears/or a mask.

tail for a dog, just a sausage of fabric, stuffed with newspaper. A bear, you could scrunch up a pom-pom, sort of thing.

I think you can get animal masks in most toyshops for next to nothing.

Alternatively, how about a rabbit? Similar kind of outfit and I know Sainsburys' had some bunny ears on a headband for Easter.

Have a hunt round charity shops too, they sometimes get kids dressing up clothes in. You know the themed ones that you see in Early Learning etc

Pirates are easy, cut some old trouser legs so they are ragged, bare feet, a striped T shirt and a made or bought eye patch, tie a scarf as a bandana or necktie. face paint scars and stubble for extra effect, use a toy sword, or make a cardboard and tinfoil one.
