not true. IF you have a uk ip it will sign up as googlemail but you can send to gmail. Where did you get this from. the invites are useless.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

You can now sign up without an invite at http://mail.google.com so I have unstuck this thread.
If you are in the UK, you will be signed up for googlemail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

To get a non UK google account i.e. gmail.com and not googlemail.com, use a browser window that masks your IP. You then get the option to select a gmail.com account.
This is a valid workaround so you arent forced to have a googlemail account.
Note that your googlemail account is still linked to the gmail version. That means roger@googlemail.com and roger@gmail.com are the same address.0 -
