I read recently that juges at divorce are paying attention to pre-nups, even though they aren't legally binding yet. I suspect they may become legal at some point in the not too distant future.
If I ever considered marrying again I'd want a pre-nup and wouldn't give a second's consideration to merely shacking up with someone......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Ooooops! DH and I are members of the church where we were married, have been since 1997. He was baptised and confirmed there in his 70th year, 2004.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

margaretclare;
While I appreciate what you have said about vows, I tend to see them as a nicety in the wedding ceremony...Why?...I may take mine seriously....but there are thousands and thousands out there who do not "love, honour and respect"...there are legal aspects to the vows..."lawful impediment" etc...but everything else is just niceties...
I may love my wife...but if anything happened and I chose to marry again...my daughter and son will come before any new spouse when it comes to the "home" that my wife and I have provided for our children....I have no intention of it going anywhere elseI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -

I'm sure you've read enough posts on the topic to know by now that this was not your only option to ensure the above.0 -

That may well be the case now, but it wasn't the case when we married in January 2002. I didn't know any such thing. In fact, I was warned by one of the housing advisers at CAB that if I died, with the title in my name alone, he would have no right at all and the building society could evict him with little compunction. That advice may or may not have been correct, but as he had arrived on my doorstep like a refugee I have always been concerned about his security.
I am happy with the way we did things and the way the title is held now.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
