If you went with Monarch from Manchester to Lanzarote on 15 it would be £368.46. Hope that helps

I would hire a caravan in the South of France, and drive there and back enjoying the scenery and the lovely beaches. It will still be warm, but not so crowded.
    £400 caravan
    £200 petrol and tolls
    £100 crossing
    £300 spending money

From Thomas Cook website, reviews seem pretty decent from TA.

Hi Mr P, Turkey is a great place to holiday. The weather in October is still pretty hot with loads of sunshine. If you can travel on the 12th October then these 2 deals look pretty good with Thomas Cook on an All Inclusive basis from either Newcastle or Manchester at a cost of £569 each per person. This means your total spend will be about £1100 for the fortnight,if you dont do any trips !

We are going to Turkey for the first two weeks in October.
We go regularly but, by mid-October, lots of the tourist eating, shopping, drinking, clubbing places have closed down, even though the weather can be like a hot summer's day back home.

When we flew back from Bodrum a couple of years ago in mid-October with Thomas Cook, several of the tour reps flew back with us because it was the end of their season and the plane had flown out from UK empty because it was the last Coooks flight home of the year.

On the other hand, nowhere will be crowded and there should be plenty of bargains.

If you want an all-swinging, all-dancing holiday, Canary Islands would be better as that is an all-year round holiday centre.
  • Try Egypt, I live there and the weather is perfect in Oct, hot but with lovely breezes. Jet2.com fly from the north, including Leeds and Bradford but you could get an all inclusive for two weeks for around 500 per person. Try on the beach, travel republic and first choice. all good prices in Oct. Trip advisor has some good links to sites.

I'm thinking of going to Dahab in mid-October!
  • Forgot to mention, avoid half term dates, think it starts 23rd or it will be more expensive, good luck
  • Turkey is warm and you may get some good prices on private villas. I found one that was offering the 2nd week Half price it was in a village near Fethiye called Uzumlu if you do a search for uzumlu villa you may find it. Also agean flights have are advertising Birmingham-Dalaman return for £280pp
