    glad they exchanged it

but in my opinion they would have had to anyway if its faulty

the fact that it had been drawn on isnt relevant - u can draw on your property if you like, doesnt mean it isnt meant to do its job

I find it really funny how Argos seem to complain about their own returns policy but never seem to get the message through to some staff that the products should be actually taken out of the box and looked at before giving an exchange/refund!

I wouldn't be surprised if someone has taken back a PSP before or similar with one of those lookalike PSP toys you can get :D

They have tightened up on a lot of things now..mobile phones is one...several years ago someone returned a 200ish pound phone with a dummy phone in the box... some idiot refunded it...hence v strict mobile phone policies now.

depends on the member of staff. the only time i dont open something up to check is if it is clear that there is absolutely no way it has been opened - ie, its shrink wrapped for example.

otherwise, i open up and check everything - because thats what im supposed to do.

I was shocked too that she didn't open it. She was going to until she asked if I wanted a replacement and I said yes, then she didn't bother!! It was short staffed and there was a long queue behind me. I know its no excuse but thats probably why!!

I find that hard to believe considering the amount of empty boxes we get back.

Ipods are another big one to.

People TRY and return empty boxes for a refund - you wouldn't believe the amount of con-artists out there! and another one is to by a multi-buy i.e. 2 for one or buy something and get something else half price etc and return item what they got free or at a discount for a full refund without the reciept. Basically trying to make money out of Argos' goodwill. They should be locked away in my eyes!

on the subject of con artists, i've had a right idiot over the weekend. he bought a really cheap PAYG mobile phone. i opened to box to check the contents were all present, and that the imei numbers corresponded. write the imei on his receipt, and sent him on his way. less than 24hrs later, he is at a local store claiming he was given an empty box. they phone up to speak to my store, as it is clear from the receipt that the box has been inspected. i confirm all was present and correct, so they tell him, sorry but no

within two hours, he comes back to our store trying to pulll the exact same scam. i pity da fool :D :rotfl:
