I'm glad someone has brought this up!

I feel frustrated pressing the spam button and not knowing if it will have any effect whatsoever, and so far, it doesn't look to be doing anything, from this side of the screen at least.

And tbh, I think it appropriate for one person to post a message warning people it is spam and asing them to press the spam button.

The quicker they are gone from the boards the better imo, as you simply don't know how many click the links thinking it is endorced by this site.

How many need to press to make is disappear, or is that a secret?

And, at what point should we email abuse? After a few hours/ a day/ two days...

I worry it is overkill to do both and so often leave it, but that means more people are getting away with spamming than before...

Few people seem to ever click on it the reason I know is you can see how many times a thread is views and if people say spam or click spam buttton its still there hours later

Something else that's very annoying is the 'Abuse' button that has a 'mailto:' link. Most people these days use webmail accounts like hotmail/yahoo mail, so it is pointless having an abuse button that simply opens up Outlook Express which isn't set up for anything. Can't the abuse button be like the Spam button, i.e. web-based, without having to send an email?

  • Hello,

Something I've just noticed that perhaps could be tweaked.

A post that has been removed, or hidden with the Spam button, (I don't know which) is still visible in the 'Last Post' section.

Thus, I can see this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?goto=newpost&t=1879463 has been posted,
    although not view it.

I'm guessing no-one saw this post?
    It's still happening.

I agree with this. I always hit the spam button, even there is a message saying it has been reported, but often very obvious spam is still there days later.

But now we have a spam button, I thought that it the abuse button was not to be used for spam. Or should we report spam through both buttons now?

  • Can I just ask, how many times does the spam button need to be clicked before a post is dealt with?
I suspect it is at least in double figures which seems quite high seeing as many people see the "spam" posts below it and then do nothing, and in the last week or so I've seen several spamming threads remain many days after being reported, and after I've clicked the spam button which I suspect has been clicked by other members too.
Maybe if a post's spam button is pressed 3 times say, it is not removed, but quarantined somewhere for an official decision, and reinstated if not spam??

    It's only a game
