Router and Wireless Card Won't Connect - Help Please!

Hello,
my Siemens SE 572 router (Home Starter) and my Belkin Wireless Card won't connect.
The weird thing is that the wireless card picks up a strong signal from the router but just won't connect to the strong signal it detects.
It doesn't seem to be a security issue - the security code works fine. It just won't connect and they are sitting right next to each other - so shouldn't be a reception problem. I have also tried changing channels to no avail.
I have tried connecting to the web with the same wireless card and my other router (Netgear from Virgin cable) and it connects no problem. But this isn't a long term solution.
So it would seem to be an issue between the Orange router and the card. Any ideas? I've been trying to sort this all weekend.
Thanks

Have you tried turning off all security then connecting.0

I will try this. But won't it leave me open to just anyone hopping on board?0

Its only to see if the encryption is the problem.
Turn it off connect and if you have access then you know its an encryption conflict then we can try and resolve that.0 -
MAC filtering enabled on the Siemens SE 572?
>But won't it leave me open to just anyone hopping on board?<
What's the likelyhood for the few minutes you are testing?0 -
Forgive me, I'm a non techy
MAC filtering enabled on the Siemens SE 572?
what does that mean?0 -

Wi-fi routers can be instructed to only allow connections from a pre-defined list of wireless cards.
But if your device is new out the box it's incredibly unlikely this will be enabled.0 -
It's not a solution to the wireless problem, but if your router and PC are sitting next to each other, whats the point of using wireless? Just connect the two with your ethernet cable (that way you won't have to worry about wireless security either). No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I've just got it next to the router to confirm it's not a reception issue. Normally, I use it elsewhere around the house.0

Still no luck even without any security. Going to try a different networking card/dongle next. Other than that I'm out of ideas.0

Possible firewall issue? Turn it off temporarily to check. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
