Evening everyone, I need a bit of tax advice please:eek:

I starting MSing in March and regisitered for tax in April, I have just received a letter telling me I need to submit my accounts online by October 31st. I have been keeping a note of mileage and other cost so i'm not worried about that but I am confused!

Do I just put in the details for the jobs I have done so far, or do I guess what I might do in the following 6 months from October to end March? Obviously the amount of work changes drastically from month to month.

What information do I actually need to input? Do I have to list very job individually (as I say I have the details but am just trying to work out how long this process should take me).

Roughly when would I need to make any payments due?

I dont want much info. do I??:rotfl:

    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,

The only info you need to submit will be from March to April 5th, you've been set up in Self Assessment for the 08/09 year. I dont know if you have any other employment so you'll basically be assessing the whole of the tax year from April 6 08 to April 5 09.

If you have any payments to make they need to be paid by 31 Jan 10 at the very latest.

If you complete online then you do actually have until Jan 31st to complete but if i'm honest i would do it asap as the system is notoriously bad for crashing around the deadline time. The Oct deadline is for those people that complete their tax returns by paper and want the tax office to calculate their tax for them, if you complete online it calculates your tax as you go.

Re completion, you just add all your MS work together and add onto the self employment section as 1 amount.

Any probs PM me, I'm well qualified to advise for tax purposes (I work for them).

If you read post 2 on the 1st page of this thread then it will show you how to add clients and how many they have.

    Hi

Ive got a similar question. spreadsheets???? I have still not started mine and as the tax thingy is fast looming, thought i had better transfer my scribble, up until now I couldnt get one downloaded, now I have.....how the heck do I start!!! I know I have to put formulae in, but can someone give me column headings that I need. ie.. so i have one for miles then the next for mileage. If someone can list what is needed, I can work the rest out, so I know I am not missing a particular column.

    Thanks

  • When I first started signing up for MS companies TNS weren't looking for shoppers in my area, just tried again tonight and apparently now they are, so yay! They seem like a good company from what I've read on here.
Point of this post... Ive said I was recommended by a friend and they want a name, anyone want to PM their name to put? Don't know what the relevance of it is, if there is any at all but I feel a bit silly putting that I dont know my supposed 'friends' name, lol.
Reclaiming for family and friends. Won 4/13 so far

Email ABAi who will add clients for you depending on the demographics. Sorry, not sure of their email as I am on a different PC. Some of their clients are by invite only though.

ukmonkey, I just want to thank you for the spreadsheet. After doing my 3rd mystery shop I thought I'd better start logging them for tax reasons. Downloaded your spreadsheet tonight & its great! Does everything I need it to do.

If people haven't downloaded it then I would definately recommend it.

    Thanks again ukmonkey

Hi does anyone have a phone number for tns ....I have a query?

I have to visit a supermarket and go to the pharmacy, phone shop and tech support. I HAVE to buy a recommended product in the pharmacy but tho it says i dont have to buy anything in the other 2 depts it states that i will have to buy something to prove i was in the shop. so will the product i buy in the pharmacy be sufficient do you think? On the questionaire irt seems to ask 3 times for receipt details so i wasnt sure if i had to buy 3 things
    Ta peeps

Although the brief and questionnaire mention all 3 it doesn't necessarily mean you visit them all - TNS bung everything in the one document which can be a little confusing.
Check whether you definitely need to visit all three....I have known scenarios to visit 2 but not all three.
To check: straight after you have logged in and after agreement there is a page that says Location Details - this is before the entire brief, questionnaire downloads. It will clearly say Areas to assess and have the departments you are to do.
For the Pharmacy you must purchase from there but for the other 2 locations you buy something in the store. If you have Pharmacy and another department then the pharmacy receipt will suffice as proof of visit. A receipt from the Cafe or Petrol will not be accepted.

    Hope this helps.
    Happy snooping!

Definitely all 3 - it states " This is a visit to a Pharmacy, Phone Shop and Tech Support in one of xxxxx stores. "
