Very useful...especially the simple bit about browning under the grill....I left my pies in the oven last night for ages willing them to go brown. What can I say........I'm just not a cook. What is glaringly obvious to you lot just isn't to me.:D

Well i decided to add a red pepper a couple of night ago to my cottage pie and it added a very nice twist to the dish - would recommend to anyone.

    yes :T

you get them from the same place that sells fresh tartares for tartare sauce, and 'real' lemons for making lemonade with (as opposed to those horrible nasty 'fake' lemons they try and palm you off with in the supermarket :D )

    hi all,
heres a recipie that goes down well with all my family

    ingredients are as follows:
    mince (lamb, beef etc)
veg of your choice (carrot, onion, peppers, peas, sweetcorn etc)
2 veg oxo cubes - crumbled
2 meat oxo cubes to match your meat - crumbled
    squirt tom sauce
    few dashes worchestershire sauce
    herbs of your choice
    boiling water

    brown mince,
remove from pan and put in a bowl, add oxo cubes, herbs, tom sauce and worchestershire sauce
add veg to pan and gently fry until softening
add mince etc from bowl and stir well
add enough boiling water to make a gravy to the quantity you prefer
transfer to large serving dish (small individual dishes if prefered)
add your boiled and mashed tatties on top
place under grill or in oven until tatties have browned on top

cheese can be added before browning if you wanted
