What is the best sim to get for my son, I need one with free mins as he has a new g/friend and has made calls to her adding up to £18.00 and we're only into the 6th day of the bill.

  • With that level of spend you are better off getting a contract phone. PAYG are normally aimed at light users.

  • £3 a day, £90 a month. Can definately get loads of minutes for that every month on a contract. Normally with the free sims you are restricted on how many you can order, they are not going to send him 30!

the £18.00 he has spent so far is on the house phone (BT) he has a contract phone which has a £20.00 limit on it, if I didn't limit it he just spends hours on phone talking about nothing or they play songs to each other. Both on msn, on phone at the same time as msn, so I was wondering about the skype thing aswell.

Check out wether their computers have speakers, my daughter can talk to some of her friends through msn though they do tend to shout.
Tesco were doing an internet phone deal 2 handsets for £30 with I think £5 call credit included , but I think for tesco to tesco internet calls the charges were free.

Yes - call the 0844 number, then the mobile number. But this promotional offer may only last 2 or 3 weeks, then you may be back up to 5p per minute using 18185 or another 0844 number.

Does she also have a landline? If so use a 1899 account to call landline to landline for only 3p connect fee (on BT that is). If not then MSN or Skype or other VoIP providers sound like the way to go.

If your son likes chatting for long stretches at a time then a Vodafone pay as you go is probably the best bet. You pay for the first 3 mins and then can chat up to 60 mins! If he calls his g/f's landline lots then try https://www.voipstunt.com and get him a usb headset with microphone (about £5 off ebay). You have to add 5 euros credit but then calls are unlimited (presuming you have a broadband connection!). You can also try the new talk talk packages which may suit your family or also a O2 payg which gives 100 mins or 300 texts for £10 pm.

If you need a voda or O2 simcard, pm me and I'll send one gratis.

PS This is not an open invitation for everyone to pm me!
