Phone restriced! How do i get a code?

I have a nokia here which is restriced after trying to unlock it......didnt work!
Now it needs a code.
It is on 3 at the moment and i ahve a orange payg sim i want to put in it.
Any ideas?!

Just rang 3 and they said they can not help because we no longer have a contract with them.

They said to take it to a shop to unlock.....

How does that work....in our little town there is a link and a orange shop - do they do it? how much does it normally cost?

This is all new to me - apologies for silly questions!

ye, take it to a shop or market stall, should do it for £10, no other way.. need the cable

thats correct and even if 3 gave you the code it would still be no good as all tries have been used

ive just seen your other post and noticed its a 7600
post your imei etc in the sticky at the top of this page and someone will give you the code (if you havent had 5 tries).
it can still be done by cable/hardware even if all tries are used and its better to do it this way as it stops a known signal dropping problem by enabling hidden menu options.
