Firstly apologies to those who say this subject has been covered before. i've hunted various threads and even put a similar post on one, but 'm hoping this thread may get better responses.

Basically, I'm keen to know if anyone has received their free gift when taking out a deal with dial-a-phone or had any trouble etc.... most threads I have read refer to cash back deals so not that helpful for my query

I'm looking to get a contract with O2 and get a PS3 but would like to here peoples opinions on dealing with the company. or if anyone knows any other companies who are better.

thanks for any help

  • ...Don't do it, go somewherelse ! Although my order did not include a free gift, I can tell you I have been waiting 14 days to receive a phone they promised would be delivered in 48 hours. This was a paid for item, so I can't imagine what they will be like with free gifts.

The most annoying thing is "Rachel" their automated customer care system...need I say more. In fact other than selling you the product in the first place, everything seems to be uncontrollably automated at dial-a-phone. In their "my accounts" section on their website I now have approximately 17 emails telling me my order is being processed, then some time in the night it automatically postpones the delivery date to the next day (even though the mysterious "issue" has not have been resolved) technically I have been waiting at home every day since July 25 for a delivery !

If you finally get to speak to a person, their first action is, yes you guessed it - to read what the automated thingy has just told you. Oh I lie, I have been told that there has been "technical issues" "my existing network has not responded to check requests", and that "someone will call me back". Suffice it to say I have received no call and who knows re the "technical " and "network" issue. I should add that up until 3 days ago my network has said they have heard nothing from dial-a-phone and received no request for information.

My pain - It took me days and days to research this phone, and over half a day to source and order it. As it is quite a high end handset I can not get it directly from my mobile phone provider. I need the phone for work and am so busy (the phone was intended to help me manage time and communication) I am loathed to start my search and the order process with another provider - and quite frankly don't have the time right now.

But it seems I have no choice as my phone is coming tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow...but never seems to arrive from dial-a-phone and I have no constructive explanation as to why.

Advice - Give these guys a miss if you can. Try to find a less annoying and more productive company that adopts sensible customer care systems.

    I hope this helps.

ordered a blackberry curve 8900 t'other day... with a free nintendo dsi.

after 5 days of 'order is delayed' messages i emailed them asking what the f**k was going on. they then rang me... and said the free gift was out of stock, they didnt know when they would have it and cancelled my order...

i then ordered over the phone a deal i saw online (inc £100 instant cashback)....

had confirmation of my order but it mentions nowhere of the £100 instant cash...

Cheers for the responses. Guessing they seem fine on cash back but just lousy at handing over the free gifts

Actually that's not the case. You've only had 2 posters respond and one of them could well be working for a competitor of DAP.

Last year we had 2 O2 contracts with free gifts. These were despatched a few days after we placed the orders and were credit checked. One was a Wii and the other was a I Touch. They both duly arrived.

If they cannot get the free gifts to you, then they may offer Argos vouchers to the value of.

Dialaphone are actually a very good company to deal with. They are honest.

I would still place the order with them. If the free gift does not arrive and they say they are out of stock, suggest that they round the value up by £20 or so in vouchers for the inconvenience - make sure you can get it from argos etc for the offer value of the vouchers.

We were looking at a couple of XBoxes recently but decided against it, If they had reported these out of stock I would have suggested they send the purchase price in Tesco vouchers, as they stock them. As we shop at Tesco anyway....

To add some balance here, I ordered from Dialaphone a couple of months ago. My free Wii was delivered in the same packaging as the phone, and the very next day.

I used dialaphone for my last phone (15 months ago) and got the phone next day and the free gift (ps3) within 10 days which was as they stated

About 12 months ago they were sending their free gifts once you'd been connected a certain length of time. Now it seems to be straight away.

I would have no problem with DAP at all. Last year IIRC my online checkout stated that I would recieve a car charger with each handset. When they arrived, I had no car charger. They initially put £5 back into my bank account. I then pointed out that to get a decent car charger would cost in total around £15, and I had 2 contracts, each of which should have come with a car charger. They then put another £25 into my account - totalling £30 in all.

We have had three phones from dial a phone in the last 2months and all free gifts have arrived with the phones. (2laptops and 1ps3) I used them a few years ago and never had any problems then either.

I'd try Phones4U. Wouldn't usually recommend but I was in there earlier this week getting my phone sorted and they had two girls come in after a phone with a free gift. What they were saying was they don't always do free gifts, but may give you the money to buy it yourself.

And I know CPW are doing contracts with free girfts, they have them displayed in some of their larger stoers and you can find them online.
