changing mobile number on contract

I have a cheap retention deal with O2 thru CPW (2 year contract). I want to get an iPhone as I can get a discount, but want to use the mobile number I have on my retention deal with the iPhone, and then change the mobile number on the retention deal to something else.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

So is the retention deal still in contract?

You can't take a number out of a contract that is still running, so if that's the case you couldn't move it to your new iPhone contract.

You could do that.. but it defeats the object of keeping the retention deal :)

You could, however the retention deal you had would be lost and term fees would be calculated based on your original package, not the discounted package.

Do you need the extra minutes etc on the iphone contract? If not, you could buy a PAYG ipone and use your existing sim in that. You may wanna change your bolt on to internet though.
