Maybe I'm just too cynical, but over the years Martin has become involved in some pretty lightweight campaigns, and I can't believe he hasn't got 10 minutes to pen a note of support for you.

Maybe, I'm not sure. All I can do is politely ask for his support - he has no obligation to me or any of us to do so. I'll leave it until possibly mid-week to see if any of the MSE team get back to me and if not I'll re-submit my briefing note and ask even if they don't want to support it, can they at least give me a reason?
At this stage in the game I'm still the only person leading this issue and I need more higher-profile people helping. I'm relying on lobbying the ABI and hoping the IS policy unit see my proposals make sense in modernising the Insolvency Rules to address this issue. What I really want, and I think I need, is a big name. I've tried so many groups, including Martin, Which?, CAB and so on. No-one seems interested and I need to understand why so I can address this or go somewhere more appropriate.
Is it that this isn't a big issue? In the past 10 years (quarter 2 2002 to quarter 1 2012) there have been 911,342 registered individual insolvencies. That's nearly a million individuals. Since the insurers ask if anyone living in the household has ever been bankrupt, let's suggest for a moment there are at least two people in the household who have to split the bills - so this issue affects around two million households based on my projection here. And that's only in the last 10 years.
I think it's fair to say two million people being affected by this is a pretty big deal, and equally I think it's fair to say what I am asking for is not a massive change and it's quite reasonable.
If I am going wrong somewhere will someone please tell me? This thread will soon be three years old and it sometimes feels like I haven't moved the problem at all.0 -

It's definitely an important issue, and if you consider the time and publicity Martin has put behind the "hugely important" issues like how to save a couple hundred £ with council tax banding, or the "hugely important" issue of saving 50p by buying down a brand, and let's not forget just how "important" it is to get a cheap phone upgrade and you can see he has very little time for a "small" issue affecting millions of people for the rest of their lives.
Martin, you are just so MoneySuperMarket these days....====0 -
I've heard nothing for over two weeks after submitting a briefing paper to the MSE news team so I have resubmitted it asking if it is under consideration.0

I tweeted Martin on 13/8 to say I have heard nothing from MSE news team despite several submissions. He said he has asked them to take a look at it. No response yet so I sent them a reminder last Thursday.
I have also called into LBC 97.3 during a bankruptcy discussion today to highlight my experiences of how my partner's bankruptcy affected her and also me, and I linked to this forum.0 -

It could be that maybe he just not agree with city slicker, it quite an emmotive issue where the people affected are in the great minority even if they number a substantial amount, it is also not part of the major message of the entire site even if it is important to those peopleHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
This might be worth a shot. There is an open consultation at the moment via the Law Society in relation to Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts. Comments can be submitted up until 25 October. Here is a link to the consultation and related papers:
http://lawcommission.justice.gov.uk/consultations/unfair_consumer_contracts.htm
I would be interested to hear the views of others, I have only briefly glanced at this but will give it more attention when I get the chance.0 -

£87 million is a lot of food, I guess he's full
To be fair though, the site is about saving money and gets it's revenue from referrals to other sites, campaigning on behalf of BR is not I guess it's aim.
BTW he is still in charge here.0 -
To keep you all up to date, I am still working behind the scenes on this and have emailed the ABI tonight for a further update. Your ongoing support is always appreciated on this matter; I hope one day to post the message to say 'we've done it'; I'm not quite there yet but don't give up hope.
I would really like to use the art of gentle persuasion with the ABI as resolving this issue makes real business sense for their members, it is likely to increase business and provide clarity. I keep holding out hope I can work with them on this.0
