What to choose for a newborn, a cradle/ bouncer that rocks (and electric vibrates) or one that swings (electric)?

My son hated the vibrating bouncer but loved the bog standard bouncer. My friend swears by the electric swing for her son, I think it depends on what your little one prefers. Maybe check freecycle for one so that if they don't like it it's no loss?0

When I had DD I bought the cheapest one that Mothercare had (I think it was about £10). She loved it and spent loads of time in it. When DS came I don't think he spent 10 minutes in it as he'd yell the place down. I know loads of people who've spent lots of money on expensive electric bouncers and rockers only for baby to hate them.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I managed to be lent one of each before my baby was born. Now she is here i have tried in her each at different times of the day during our first 3 months and she appears to prefer a bouncer in awake periods and the m&p starlite swing when she's a bit grumpy. And ruled out the fisher price link a do's all together!0

I only had a bog standard cheapy bouncer and my DD loved it. She always wanted to be held upright, and hated lying down unless actually asleep (too nosey like her mum
) We used to put her in it at dinner time so she could sit with us at the table, she loved to watch us! Personally I would buy a bouncer as it's cheaper and if she hates it then see if you can try her out in a swing then. 0 -
It's horses for courses... Alexandra LOVES her jungle swing, but it's ruddy bulky! She also likes her Winney the Pooh bouncer - but I got the swing of ebay for less than 1/3rd of the original price and the bouncer was a hand-me-down... My advice is to wait till babby arrives and then try any at friends that you can find
If they have kids they'll understand

thanks
was going to take advantage of a sale
wasn't looking at a swing, just a cheapish bouncer, but saw the mamas and papas swing, where it has 3 recline positions, locks into position, swings so does all the above i guess, apart from rock as it swings and no vibrate.
might just bite the bullet0 -
thanks all
i rang up to check on stock and the lady quoted it cheaper than i thought
with £30 savings from £100 i decided to bite the bullet
all singing and dancing:
swings with different speed settings
locks into position
reclines in 3 positions
music, light, toys0
