Why wouldn't Vodafone give my wife a contract?
Again, linked to our issues with ordering 2 contracts via Dialaphone, when we had taken out a contract less than 3 months ago....
To get around this problem, my wife tried to order a vodafone contract via Dialaphone. Whilst Dialaphone were quite happy to facilitate the contract, it all fell apart when Vodafone ran a credit check. They refused to allow her a package.
We've just checked her credit file and, as we thought, there is a lot of financial activity, none of which is unkown to us, but it shows that all her commitments are satisfactory. Apart from Mortgages she is fully paid up on her accounts, credit cards etc.
We cannot understand why she would have been refused - is this another of Vodafone's latest quirks?

There is no way of telling why voda decline people, voda arent allowed to tell the reasons because of the Data Protection Act. but normally vodafone when doing credit checks will give a line limit, the amount of lines/contracts they will allow per person.
also if the DD to be used is a Joint Account, the join account holder is soft credit checked as well, if they have poor credit voda and every other network can decline for that.0 -

Good point, but the only other name on the joint account is mine. And they have let me have 2 contractsBehind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

The other thing to consider is that my wife doesn't have any mobile phone contracts in her name, and never has done.

yeah it confusing...
did you do it in store or over phone?0 -
My wife applied through Dialaphone.
What happened is that I placed 2 orders though Dialaphone you at work site to get the £45 cashback on each order.
The first went through without a hitch but the 2nd was booted out by Dialaphone because I had exceeded Dialaphone's own 2 contact in 3 month period limit. No credit check here, just hit their own limit - we took out an Orange contract for DD2 just under 3 months before.
As a result I had one phone approved with Vodafone
So Wifey applied for her own phone via Dialaphone. Whilst Dialaphone allowed her application to go through, Vodafone then refused her.
So Vodafone score was:
Me 1
Wifey 0
So, my next approach was to phone Vodafone and ask why. My wife spoke to them first and authorised them to speak to me, but they would still give no indication as to why she had been refused, but would confirm that they had refused her.
This is when they suggested that I went direct with them. With the discount they offered, I agreed.
I was then allowed a 2nd contract with them.
Score now
Me 2

Thanks for the suggestion - something to consider in the future perhaps.
We are now sorted for the next 12 months.
As you can imagine, it did cause me to worry about her credit file, especially as part of our business's success in the future is dependent on us being able to secure large amounts of credit. It seems that she can be trusted with sizeable finance costing us c £1k PCM but not a £30 PCM air time agreement!Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
