about 6 years ago i bought a fiat tipo for £40 rom an auction, that included fees, we took it to an old quarry and had a great time with it,it was the most reliable fiat ive ever known, we ran it through huge puddles, well small lakes, the underside took a battering from the rocks and we hit it into a few quarry faces which burst the radiator, it just ran and ran we got a whole week out of it before it died.

Yep, most of the excellent cars produced by Japanese manufacturers, and a few of the more recent models from Korean manufacturers.. ;)

I think i need to learn more about cars! I've not had the best track record when it comes to buying them! I'm not going to say what i've had as its a little embarrasing! I did think that German cars were suppose to be good? Or am i mistaken again?!! :D

    Generally speaking yes.....

But if you choose certain makes like VW - then it will be cheaper to maintain than an Audi say - which has take over as the new BMW, in the sense that drivers of them think they own the road .. ;)

Skoda's are good cars too - if you can get over the badge thing.. :o

Mercedes? I wouldn't have one if you paid me - well, depends on what I was being paid! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

" German " cars used to be excellent, not quite so good these days IMO, and grossly over priced.

The only " German " car that I would consider is a Skoda, but that isn't really German, but the company is owned by VW.

I'd suggest the local auction. I used to go with my dad (quite a few years ago now though) and saw quite a few cars go for £10 and silly amounts like that. Think you have to pay auction house fees on top though.
