Looking for a free car to thrash round my field!

Hi Moneysavers,

I have some land in whihc i run a few bangers round, with friends. One of my cars is on its last legs so am just wondering where i could get another from.

Any ideas? Am looking for any car, as long as it goes or there aboutst!

you prob wont get anything free, people with cars on their last legs will prob just cash it in for scrap metal. Going rate is about £80 a ton ATM

I have sat at the back of the yard is an R reg Mondeo 1.8LX that you can have for 300 notes. Got MOT til Oct.

Try doing some begging like I've seen some people do on freecycle. Say please alot and that you have just got a new job 100 miles away. Say you have been unemployed for ages and are heavily in debt and unable to afford a car. Also you can't catch the bus or train there at 3am when you need to set off. You get these sob stories all the time on freecycle so they must be true and people must believe them

If you own a field you should be able to buy a car anyway! Despite the recession land is still worth a lot.

Weigh in your old car then tell the scrappie that you'll give him £50/£100 for the next runner that comes in, and you will even bring it back in a few months when you're finished with it

Thanks for all your replies, laughed at the one about pleeding on freecycle haha.

scrappy reply is a possibility.

Selling land isn't going to happen.

Have spoken to some people down the pub and they have said that if you go to a garage that do Part ex they will give you a banger for free, as long as it is not valuable enough to end to auction.

So that i what i am going to do!

i would be surprised if they gave you a car tbh, if its too rubbish for the auction they will weigh it in for scrap or even stick it on ebay

Local garages? MOT failures that people can't afford to have repaired etc.?
