Its ace! Granted, I'm not so sure we should be teaching the word dynamite or armour plating to children, but hey, I enjoyed reading it!

The Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme is a super set of books to help little ones begin to read. The characters are always the same, so no matter how many books you get, they know the faces, names and learn to recognise them.
All the other books mentioned are super to just read and listen to. The Gruffalo's my fave.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
My DD (22 months) loves "where oh where is kippers bear?"
I love that too, as well as "each peach pear plum", " guess how much I love you" and "you're all my favourites"
We tend to stick to "kipper" every bedtime though, as it gets her settled.Threadhead0 -
The "Little Miss" or Mister Men books by Roger Hargreaves are very popular with my little niece aged 18 months - she gets up every morning and asks for these books, maybe she likes them because the books are small enough for her to hold them and turn the pages herself.0

The tiger who came to tea. My daughter LOVED this book.
My son loved Wheres my teddy? "Eddy's lost his teddy, he's lost it in the woods somewhere, its dark and 'orrible in there...." (I remember it after all these years...}
The spot books in hard card were great as well
SUDDENLY! was another great book
And one of my fav's The cats of tiffiany street.
Have a great time reading.
Oh and there was a great book Wheels on the bus which had moving parts (with young children it had to be thrown out in the end as it was ruined) but it was great while it lasted. But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
my 3 year old loves the mister men at bedtime, especially mr funny which he "reads" to his baby brother! also usborne easy words to read books - there's a few - ted's shed, goose on the loose (his current fave!), shark in the park, etc. rhymes & also have a yellow duck to find on every page. we got a set from the book people & some from charity shops.
he tends to go through phases of particular books. he used to be obsessed with a brer rabbit book that used to be mine - quite old fashioned now! he liked it when we changed names like brer rabbit became bedtime bunny (that he's slept with since he was born) & the others were grandma etc. problem is you have to remember who is who - although he used to love correcting us so sometimes it was funny to change words deliberately when he knew the story off by heart - made it less boring for us too!
am gonna have to find little rabbit foo foo after reading the above posts! sounds fantastic!
he learned to count through counting in everyday situations as previously said, & we make up songs like 5 little dolphins sitting on the bath. anyone else noticed there are loads more songs for counting down than up!! he also loves the fun song factory videos - slightly off topic now, sorry!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0 -
Any one else find their child enjoys destroying the books - even the solid card page ones that look indestructible - as well as having them read?I think....0

It's a great book. My reception classes did this book to death...it was the favourite each year (accompanied by a teacher who put in ad libs here and there) + it was also turned into a few assemblies! Loved it!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
