Mobileshop porting to O2 10 pounds charge

As far as I'm aware Mobileshop are just passing on the charge made by O2.alex69 wrote:Hello
Mobileshop charge 10 quid upfront for porting a number to O2. Is this the only way to do it? Would O2 charge 10 pounds if I was to call them on the first day of connection and give them a PAC? (I suspect not but would like a confirmation). Thanks.
If porting to O2 (and Vodafone) you need to request this at the time of ordering. The other networks you can just ring them up at any time.
I suppose it's a case of whether avoiding the hassle of changing your number is worth £10 - the answer will depend on your circumstances

Thanks.
On the other hand on O2's web page under the FAQ it saysCan I keep my existing number?
Once you have decided to move to O2 (UK) Limited, contact your existing network provider and request a PAC (Port Authorisation Code). This should arrive within 2 to 10 working days depending on how many numbers you are changing.
When you have received your new O2 (UK) Limited mobile phone number, select Help from the top navigation and enter your new O2 (UK) Limited mobile phone number. You will be presented with a list of Options to choose from. Select Bringing my Number to O2. You will see all of the information you need about what to do and how long the number change should take. There will also be a convenient online form for you to enter your details that will be emailed directly to our customer service team.0 -

I recently ported a number to O2 via the O2 website (after buying from coolnewmobile who don't have a porting arrangement with O2) and wasn't charged anything0

That's what I was hoping for. Thanks!0 -
If you buy a phone with cashback deal and later port some other number to this contract you could have problems with getting cashback. Check before you go this way.alex69 wrote:That's what I was hoping for. Thanks!
BTW I just ordered 2 free phones from CPW with 12 months free line rental (cashback on O2) and requested porting my numbers. CPW didn't charge me for this too.0 -

Thanks for this! I spoke to Mobileshop. They said dealing with O2 required time so they would charge the 10 pounds. They also said they were perfectly happy for me to do it afterwards just to put a note on it on the cashback requests. So this is what I have done. I've dealt with them before and fully trust what they say.0
