Nokia 6630 Unlocking from 3 - RipOff
Hello.
Just thought I'd post this for anyone that got a 6630 on a 3 contract. I got mine in August, August 14th is when the contract terminates.
Called up 3 in early September when I was abroad to get my phone unlocked, as I wanted to use my sim4travel sim, for which I'd already paid £30. they quoted me £250. Well, that was just no on, so left it at that.
Called them again today, they quoted £215 to unlock now, and £15 when the contract ends. As I've already paid £270 (excluding cashback), I'm not paying another £215 on top of that - I could just as easily get an unlocked one of ebay or Froogle for less than that!
So I'm just going to unlock the phone in August, which will total out at £105, £90 for the contract after cashback plus the £15 unlocking code. Should be able to sell the phone on eBay for more than that, so it'll all work out well.
3 did say that they are planning to revise the unlocking charges in the near future. Howver, I think I've learned now to always check to see if your phone is unlockable externally (outside the network) before making the purchase - I didn't know that at the time I got mine.
Regards. Glad to be back after such a long absence.
Hussein.

Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.

why dont you just get it unlocked by someone else? my local phone shop unlocks 6630s for £15The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.
You ask for ADVICE not ADVISE.0 -
no-one else can unlock 6630 apart from the network, £15 is quite reasonable, you can get it done once you have given notice to cancel the contract (i.e in the 11th month) for £15.0

Once you have given your 30 day notice, it costs £15 only.
