Cool New Mobile - Phone Unlocked?

Hi, I know there have probably been hundreds of posts on this topic but I figure I might as well ask.

Anyone know if phones on Orange tariffs from Cool New Mobile are unlocked? Just got a Sony Ericsson K750i from them on the Orange OVP 200 tarriff for 12 months free with cashback and was wondering if it'll be locked. Of course, I don't mind paying the £9.99 to have a data cable and unlock code sent out (saw the offer on Google) and then can just sell the phone on eBay and use another unlocked handset with the sim. Would this be legal? I'd be selling the phone as Brand New and Unlocked, with complete packaging and only the SIM removed.

Nothing illegal. Certainly not in the 'spirit' of the contract, but then we are here to save money! I used to worry that if the new owner used the same network that they would see the phone & kick off - it's never happened.

The only illegal phone mod is changing IMEIs (aka unblocking stolen phones) - comes with a a free holiday with HMPS of up to 7 years if you get caught. Not a good idea.

Never used CNM, but unlikely to be unlocked if it is on Orange. It is possible to have the w800i software put on that phone, but that is up to each user to decide/pay for.

As the handset is not part of your contract with Orange, you can do anything that you want with it and "not in the spirit of the contract" is irrelevant!
