Can anyone recommend good value driving lessons in the Cardiff area, please?

I'd prefer a female instructor, if possible.

Thanks!

  • I can recommend who NOT to go with:

Red Dragon driving school, I know a few people who have had bad experiences with them, including myself.

I'm with the AA – not necessarily the cheapest at £18ph but I really like my [male] instructor.

Initially I was with BSM and absolutely would not recommend that anyone use them. From start to finish the service I had from them was appalling; the final straw being when my instructor had a car crash and no one from the office even bothered to phone me to let me know my lesson was cancelled... for THREE weeks! I rang the AA the same day and am now almost test-ready.
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

i can recommend bumps (driving's cool). the main bloke who owns the company lives in st mellons, but covers the whole of the cardiff area, and a fair bit beyond. i know he employs at least one female driving instructor.

    Cats Eyes - 1st 12 hours £140
    Britannia - 1st 10 £110
1st Impressions - 1st lesson or theory test free
    Top Marks - 1st 10 lessons £130

    All advice gratefully received, ta!
  • Depends wot U mean by good value! Not all driving lessons/instructors are the same quality. Some of the cheapo schools spend all the lesson parked by the kerb 2 save wear n tear on the car and you dont go very far. Otherwise how can they be so cheap with petrol 97p/litre. They gotta eat too you know! It can take ages to pass Ur test with a cheapo skul. Betta 2 go wiv a decent skul. My mate paid £17 an hour and got decent lessons and learnt quickly.

Fair point Twizzle, but I know people who've raved about BSM while others inc Brionie have had poor service, so paying more doesn't necessarily mean you get better service.

I was asking for people's opinions of best value - service set against cost. I wondered if anyone had direct experience, good or bad, of the companies I listed which offer deals.

Thanks, Ann Marie :T , much appreciated - how are the lessons going?

I suspect it would take quite a few lessons to make me road safe ...

PS I'm trying to avoid BB this year - just like I said last year ...:o
  • I can recommend DELTA. I passed 1st time :j & paid £16.50 an hour. No time wasting -he just got on wiv it. :D
