hi, got a Samsung Soul on O2 18 months ago from dial a phone which was unlocked and unbranded which i prefer.
Waiting my new Samsung pixon 12 arriving on Tuesday from Mobileexpress (who i believe are Dial a phone) and its on the Orange network.
Never had an Orange phone before, just wondering if anyone knows if it will be unlocked and unbranded seen as i'm not buying straight from the network?

Guy at disconnections says I will not be affected.
I am looking at the June price price for PAYM, and the July Price plan for PAYM, both state 5p minimum call charge for my 24m Dolphin40.
Can anyone give a definitve answer. Will ALL contracts be affected or not?
Has anyone else got a Dolphin40 taken out in June? Were you successful in cancelling?
Thanks.0 -
Just recieved a Samsung Tocco Light from mobile express on a O2 contract wich came fully unlocked / unbranded!0

On my third phone through dialaphone, first one was Three and it was locked to Three (Nokia 6630) back in 2005.
Second one k810i Sony Ericsson in 2007 - that was unlocked on o2 and not branded.
Third is Lg cookie this year on T-mobile and it is not locked as far as I know nor branded.
I believe or at least my experience has been Three lock their phones, and I have had three contracts with them in past.
Orange probably brand and lock theirs but not sure - definitely when k810i non branded keys went wonky, I replaced the case with one from ebay and ended up with a branded case with Orange logo on it (phone was on o2 and unlocked).0 -

I've had three o2 handsets from Dialaphone and all three have been unlocked. I also think that all Vodafone handsets are sent out unlocked now too.0

Apart from the 3 hadsets, like another poster, all but one phone I've had from Dialaphone have been unlocked. This includes an Orange networked LG cookie bought just under 3 months ago.
When ordering straight from Vodafone a week ago, the sales rep told me that he thought the Nokia 5800 I would get would be unlocked. His attitude was that unlocking phones (whether or not they charge the customer) was something that was unnecesarily time consuming for them, with such issues as customers not knowing how to input the codes etc. Hence it was easier on their business to supply phones unlocked.
As for Dialaphone, if you think about it, with the exception of models supplied only on one network, it makes perfect sense to stock one line of a given make and model of phone that can be supplied with any network sim, rather that one line of locked phones for each network. In some cases that approach can reduce required stock holding by 80%.
Apart from the 3 contracts I had, the only locked phone I got from Dialaphone was a Motorola V3 on T Mobile. We had 2 arrive on the same day and one appeared to have been resealed. As time progressed and as a result of further issues with the phone, which may or may not have been related, it transpired that this phone was destined by Motorola for a different country. I suspect that there was a run on this model at the time (can't think why - they were crap!) an Dialaphone were pulling strings to get them in from anywhere. Mine was unpacked to flash it with the UK T Mobile software, which also locked the phone. The other was UK destined and needed no reflashing for us to use it.
The one that was not UK destined was called back by Dialaphone on the basis that technically it couldn't be guaranteed in the UK. They very kindly replaced it with a better phone.
I did briefly have a Nokia 5800 from Nokia on a vodafone contract. It was unlocked but was branded with Vodafone. In fact it was identical to the phone I got from vodafone in every way.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
