I got an interview this week for sainsburys, its at a store i used to work at0

Sorry to be a bit of a hijacker, but this thread is perfect for a question I have.
To all those who got invited to an interview with Sainsbury's, were they adamant that you brought either a National Insurance Card, a P45/P60 or other documents, as proof of your National Insurance Number?
Sainsbury's was my first job (i.e. I had no P45/P60), and the call centre lady told me I would be turned down at the interview if I did not bring any proof of my National Insurance number. However since then I have heard many accounts from people in IRL and on Google saying that you only need the number itself throughout your whole working life. I had lost my National Insurance card would have been really disheartened if I hadn't found it in time.
On topic, my Sainsbury's was average. There was a general feeling among us young employees that we weren't treated fairly, the main example being that we were treated pathetically with holidays. They wouldn't even give me time off for exams (paid or unpaid, and yes I gave all the notice I could), so I had to leave. However I would ignore this anecdote of mine as my Sainsbury's was a small local village one, and I reckon you'd be treated more fairly in a bigger one.0 -
they asked me for proof of identity, NI card, child benefit book etc. I took a utility bill and that was fine.0

you must have been, ours is quite a large store, almost 800 staff. They asked for NI card, I lost mine so couldn't take it, asked for Child benefit book, but its paid by DD so no child benefit book as eveidence, so they took a utility bill, could have been a bank statement, it was years ago I can't recall now!0

Aah, "years ago" explains it. Now all recruitment is centralised and other than the interview it's handled by a call centre, not the person at the actual store. If I hadn't found my NI card I was actually going to chance turning up without it.
(I say call centre, but I swear I spoke to the same person three times at that call centre, hrm...)0 -
Lordy, I can hardly believe it but I got the job!! Interview on Wednedsay morning, went fine, apart from a couple of disruptions for the interviewer from other members of staff! I got the text this morning telling me that I have been offered the job :-) I have 3 induction days next week and then I guess that's it!! Thanks everyone for your time here.
