so far ive found a really good deal on Kos, has anyone been this time of year?
  • Am going to Bodrum which is very close to Kos in October. Have done a bit of research and should still be sunbathing weather, but there is a chance you could get caught out. If you are looking for more certainty Sharm or one of the other Red Sea resorts is a safer bet.

In my experience in that area it can be great, it also can seriously rain.

My vote is for the canaries, Tenerife maybe. It is hot all year around.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is usally good in October, been there a few times at that time of year and always nice and sunny.
It's a pretty relaxed resort with loads of great restaurants but no late night discos etc, mainly couples and families not gangs of yobs.

October half term 2008 in lanzarote was ok, not as hot as usual and it did rain a little apparently the worst weather they'd had for years, but oct 2006 was fantastic, so it is a bit pot luck that time of year but i would still go there again in oct just think we were unlucky in 2008. Fuerteventura in oct 2007 was in the 90's so any of the canaries should be good barring freak weather.

I go to the south of Catalonia every year at the end of October. For sunning it is surely warm enough. Normally the sea is around 23 centigrade so you can swim in the sea as well.
We have been to mainland Spain for the last five years at this time of the year. Earlier we have been to the Canaries, but for us there is no point in flying two or three more hours just to improve the probability of good wather by 5 %...

Bit hit and miss in all Europe generally. In Greece / Turkey the sea is still nice and warm but there can be rain and cold evenings. I guess Cyprus is a touch better.

    Have you considered Egypt ?

It depends where in Turkey you go - it is a big country.

Southern Turkey - Antalya/Side area - has a longer season and the weather is lovely in October.

Having said that we've had three holidays in the Fethiye area during Oct half term and although we've had rain, it's been at night, and the weather most days has been in the upper 20's.

The good thing about Turkey is that you can get some good all-inclusive deals at Oct half term, if you look around. If you are looking for a 'do nothing' sunshine break, that is a stress free way to go.
