    1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard, or launch the Start Menu using your cursor.
    2. Select the "Run..." option.
    3. In the prompted box, enter "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove".
    4. Press the Enter button on your keyboard, or click "OK."
    5. When you are prompted and asked to restart your computer, click "Yes."

I haven't looked at previous threads so I might be missing something, but why can't you uninstall it through Control Panel?

Alternatively, instead of uninstalling Windows Messenger, you can also disable Windows Messenger.

    • Click the <Start> button
    • Click <Run>
    • Enter the command "services.msc"
    • Click the <OK> button
    • Find Messenger in the services list and double-click on it
    • Change the Startup type to Disabled
    • Click the <Stop> button
    • Click the <OK> button
