have to admit ...i know this probably sounds bad ...but i dont know of any relative of mine that has fought in a war ....my dad was in the navy but that was before the falklands war ....i still do my best to remember those that we have lost and those that have been injured etc and their families ...but i cant really relate it to myself so i feel slightly abstracted if you know what i mean

Of course it doesn't sound bad, El - in WWI, for instance, one grandfather of mine was in a reserved occupation (he was an engineer) and the other was too young. The grandad that was too young was in a reserved occupation during WWII (he worked on the tugboats), so no glory then either - just my dad in WWII, and he finished the war a private, just like he started - I loved my dad dearly, but he had no initiative whatsoever, not even corporal material! There was his brother of course, but he died in England during the war. Its just bad luck, as to who's of the right age to go to war. My brother in law saw action in some campaigns in the 1970s, which was pretty hairy.

Made me think.... why can I do it? Short answer is that I do a lot of stuff online - emails, paper trading, surveys, banking, even being on here. With all that stuff, I've got the bingo on in the background. If I have to leave the computer during the 20 mins or so of every hour that its on, then I zoom back every few minutes. It might sound a lot of hassle, but the zooming back is part of a cunning plan - it gets me running (literally) around the house - gets my circulation moving! Circulation is *really* bad, which is why my foot went numb on Monday and I crashed to the floor .... sorry for the hijack, Shaun, it just got me thinking.

That is a long day..... it was *very* wet here last night, I wonder if you have our leftovers or we have yours? I suspect we get yours, as you're closer to the Atlantic than we are! I have lots of fiddly texts and emails to write today cos of the trauma about my email account.... as well as The accounts....... see you later
