bray was nice,,,fresh fresh air,,,sea and the local park was english style...ie short grass flower beds and fountains, play ground for the kids,,,,,oh oh and toilets and coffee shop...got some nice photos and had a nice lazy couple of hrs:cool::cool:
usually irish parks are a large area of grass,,,some of i cut ish!! a lot left wild
and thats it!! the down side of not paying council rates/taxes
our local park does have a skate board area, large adventure play ground and cut grass
when we hit london we visit a park every day ,,,your sooooooooooooooo spioled over their!!!maybe london is the exception,,,put the parks always have thing going on,,,sculptures,,,flower beds,,,ponds with wild fowl,,,this year we found dinosours roaming around the local park:eek::eek:
spent tues looking at bikes for es5 eventually went to halfords....
when we were eventually recognised by a member of staff  and he served the four people who came in after us:mad:,,he was reasonable helpful,,,then he palmed us of onto a 16yr old,,,,told him what i was looking for,,,,,,just let me check the system to see whats in stock,,,,no we have no bikes for kids until the next delivery on wed!!!
why dident the older staff member tell us this 40 mins earlier!!!
so coming home yesterday,we called into our local halfords,,,,service was the same again:mad::mad:
if your in their for something big they make you wait,,,if you just wont a washer or your tyre inflated you get served asap,,
anyway,,,they dident have the model he wanted,,,a power rangers bike...(yep their back)...so we got home at 5.30 no bike,,,
the 16yrs old from the other store,,,rang me yesterday evening to say no deliveries had arrived in irl,,,,and he checked the list and only 2 power ranger bikes were coming into dublin ,,,would he try and get one into his store for me...ok says i when are they in ,,,,friday says he.........i gave up...
went down the village to get milk,,,called into the local bike shop 2 mins after closing!! he spent 30 mins with es picking sizes colours eth ,,,similar bike will be ready for 12 today,,,cost an extra €30....€139
in this case it dident pay me to shop around,,would have been a lot less hassle to go their in the first place,,,,
oh doing a half day 3-9
and hovering and washing of the floors to be done..
Oh says and the little matter of teaching es how to stop a bike!!!!WAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING

Been there done the Halfords bit when getting a bike for our foster child - I would really like to mystery shop them - but of course we would only be sent in to buy an air freshener
Glad bike is sorted - stopping it just a minor detail as far as kids are concerned - caught the back end of a programme on Radio4 the other day which said there was a shortage of bikes in the UK but missed the reason why:rolleyes:
Hope you are feeling a bit better
DTxx0 -
Oh don't worry about a little thing like stopping! Glad the bike is sorted.
I'm with you on the parks - we are spoiled here. One reason we chose our house is that we have a 300 acre park nearby - mix of everything - tended gardens, lakes, fields, woodland, children's play areas, sports pitches - usable all year round with good paths - and a cafe as well! It is wonderful - and used by so many people for lots of different things!0 -
How exciting for es! I remember getting my first bike, when I was 7. I took my cycling proficiency test (I think they were quite new then) and I was off - it was different from nowadays, by the time I was 8 I was cycling all over the dormitory town of Liverpool where I grew up, including down to the docks in amongst all the lorries. It was wonderful.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
