Motorola V3 - anyone had problems with this phone?
Hello - has anyone had any problems with this phone?
my OH is on his second because it keeps cutting out no matter where he is. He has only had this one for less than two weeks now and phone Orange today to complain that it doesn't work properly and they are not being very helpful.
Does anyone have any experience of this - he want to get a different phone now because of the problems he has had.
thanks for any advice.

Hi booplyboo
I can help you on this one. Quick answer is take it to your local Car phone warehouse service centre - it is covered for repairs via them for a year free of charge. My story:
I purchased a V3 in Dec 2005 (around xmas time). I got mine from Amazon for £99.99 on Orange pay as you go.
I hated the phone the moment I received it as it was just too damn fragile and I didnt want to get it damaged or scratched.
Anyway, I had it unlocked for a fiver which was a bargain. I had never used the phone before the unlocking and beleive or not it took me 2 whole months to realise that the phone just wouldnt ring. It had a fault and the tones never worked.
I established that CPW were the authorised repair people amd took it to them. They checked it and said come back later - I went back and the guy said all sorted - as I was leaving I checked the phone as it was fair old drive and the problem hadnt been sorted. The engineer looked at it again and 10 mins later - he said - all sorted. Once again I checked the phone and the muppet had not fixed anything. I ended up getting a new phone for free which I sold as soon as I could! The engineer couldnt fix it and to this day I dont know if the unlocking caused the problem.
One other point, CPW said I was being given a new phone but when I checked the call timers (which you cannot reset, I noticed it had been used for 50 mins!!) I couldnt be bothered to complain!
Hope this helps!

Thanks Kaaloo - so CPW should fix it free of charge even though the phone was through Orange?
Just checking I've read your message right!

Yep - definately. Just phone them up (watch out for their nasty 0870 tel no's!)
They will tell you when to bring it in.
Basically, they are the people who have the contract to look at Motorola's phones. I think you can go via Orange but its easier to go in face to face -I had a new one no questions asked.
Go for it! You can get the tel no of the web.Bismillah0 -
Thanks - that's great news. Just told him and he's gonna get on to them tomorrow!

Ongoing saga with my V3i - still awaiting the new "refurbished" replacement (from CPW), which will be going on ebay as soon as it arrives as I'm v happy with the 6230i my wife swopped for an SE K750i. The V3 looks good but, frankly, that's about it, imho.0
