As regards to academic writing, a BIBLIOGRAPHY is a list of resources that you have read in order to help you with your research. A list of REFERENCES (and choose a standard format and keep to it such as Harvard or Numbered) is a list of resources that you have referenced in your main body of work.

In practice there is little difference. However it's all academic as I don't think the OP has been made to do either.

Well you would get marked down if you include something in your references that you haven't used in the main body of your document and vice-versa!

It sounds like the college the OP has attended is not doing them any favours by treating students like children.
  • well to be honest a lot of the girls in my class are only 16/17 and a few just turned 18.

We were never told how to write essays, just what should be put in them and given a checklist to go through to make sure that all the points were covered.

Going into honours level university without knowing how to write an academic-style essay is going to seriously hinder your mark. In my department they will usually forgive one forgotten reference, but any more than that and your grade will rapidly decrease.

SAAS will fund you for more than four years if your course is longer than that. They also have a 'false start' scheme whereby if you leave your course after/during the first year without continuing onto the second year then they will discount that year of funding and continue to give you the four years. But this only works once.
  • thanks, i'm not going to into an honors year, just 3rd year.

Well my i dropped out of my first HNC, then done a 2 year HND, now going into 3rd year at uni...so technically it's 3 different courses? Will i still be able to do 4th year (honors year) then?

You would need to talk to SAAS, but they may do. The HNC would have been classed as a false start, leaving you with four full years of funding.
  • ahh, thanks.

I dropped out of the HNC in the January, so i was there for 6 months
