New iPhone contract having had previous O2 iphone deal for a day??

Gents/Ladies....
I had a previous O2/iphone contract for 1 day but returned it after one 'phone call as the link-speed was too slow at my main home.. got billed £0.01 (fair enough, they handled it all very professionally) in Feb '09. Think it was the 18month/600min deal.
For various reasons, mainly the current("old") 'phone is finally dying and my neighbours tell me link speeds are better now I want to start again...but vaguely remember something about not being able to start again if you'd previously had a deal...
Can anyone advise my best bet to getting an iPhone on O2?? Would contracting through CarPhone warearse help ??
Cheers & thanks in advance for any guidance...

Link speeds? What do you mean? For internet? You can check on the o2 website if the 3G signal is in your area.
Also, there won't be a problem with getting another iphone contract at o2, I'm not sure why you think there would be?

Yes & Yes: Only thing was the O2website showing signal strength & advice, in shop then confirmed by email, that Internet speeds would be good/excellent proved "incorrect".
Thanks for your advice - I'd thought there was a problem if you'd had an earlier contract and then cancelled it..

Do you have internet at home? That you could just use your wireless network?
The new 3Gs really is fast, I just got mines the other day and it's fab!
I can't see there being a problem if you had a contract before, after all, it's a new sale and what business doesn't like that?

Had been hoping O2's marketing claims were true... sadly they weren't but perhaps better now...

bump -
so there isn't any O2 practice of not selling a new iPhone/contract deal to someone who had a previous deal & cancelled previously then??
Cheers!
