item missing in the post..seems suspicious

I sold some shoes last week to a new ebayer with 2 feedback, sent them off Monday along with 8 other items, and based on the recent threads here, decided recorded wasn't worth it.

Everything else has turned up within 2 days, first class, and lo and behold, the £30 shoes "haven't yet arrived"..

I know it was only monday, so they may still be on their way, but she has only got 2 feedback, one of which to say that she claimed the item did not arrive..hence my suspicion..

what do I do now?? I'm half sure that it's a false claim, she hasn't started any dispute in paypal or anything, and I do have a CoP for it, so when and how do I claim from the Royal Mail. I assume I will have to refund her as I didn't send Recorded..So annoyed, as I needed the money for elec bill which I now won't be able to pay until the claim is finished.. Oh well.

RM won't count it as lost until 15 working days I think (so 3 weeks). Tell her to wait at least 2 weeks, and then refund her, and go to the post office and fill out a claim form.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

And I can claim even though I didn't send it recorded?? I have a CoP but the PO just put the necessary stamps on for first class, so no printed receipt with the date :(

Did you get proof of posting from them or just your cash receipt?. If you did you can claim from the royal mail. They are sometimes handwritten with the PO stamp on it or sometimes they are printed from the PO

CoP is fine for up to 39 pounds as long as it has been stamped by the PO.

You will probably have to refund before you can claim from the PO.

For 70p odd extra I would have paid for recorded on £30 worth of shoes. I know it doesn't give you an extra insurance but at least you could have seen if the shoes had turned up or had got lost in the post.

I agree, i wouldn't send anything worth more than 20.00 without it being recorded.
I hope the op gets her money back.
  • Sounds to me like your buyer is at it!

Low feedback one of which claims it didn't arrive!!

I hope so too. I am just annoyed, as usually I send recorded, but recently we have been discussing the fact that most of the time there is no signature taken at delivery anyway, so I thought why bother. Wish I had now, but hindsight's a great thing.
What frustrates me more is that I worry the buyer is trying it on, as it would seem she has done recently, with a feedback comment from a recent seller to say she claimed the item was missing. Some people must just have all the bad luck!!

What royal mail doing with these scammers?? Can't they launch investigation on the people who claim non receipt of the item frequently?? It seem big loophole favouring buyer's omainly.
