Hi
I bought a new washer 2 weeks ago and even if i wash the colors on 90 they don't come clean. I've never had a problem with other washers doing this.
I called the manufacturers, they came out and couldn't find a fault but said if i phoned the retailer, because i wasn't happy and its under the 28 days they should replace it.
Unfortunately thats not how he retailer sees it, they said because its not broken he's not prepared to do anything.
What rights do i have??? because I'm stuck with a washer that doesn't do what its meant to!

What precisely are you trying to wash? What is the nature of the soiling that you are trying to remove? Where are you putting the powder/liquid, in the tray or in the drum?
To be blunt, a washing machine takes water, adds soap, warms it all up and then rotates for an hour or so. There isn't a lot that can go wrong unless there is a mechanical or electrical fault, in which case the fault would be very evident.0 -
Just regular family washing, the same as we have been doing for years with no real problem. Using the same wash powder etc.
Even with the use of vanish and putting it on 90 degree wash simple soiling such as mud (i have 2 little footballers) don't come clean with this machine.
I think the problem may lie with the new machine saving water to the point of not having enough to get the clothes clean.Total Debt 10/5/2009, £2189.10, 1/6/09 £1420.75

It's just so infuriating that after 3-4 washes of over 2 hours long they still come out just as dirty, just wetter than they went in! not just one or two loads, all the loads I'm doing!Total Debt 10/5/2009, £2189.10, 1/6/09 £1420.75

What about 'normal' washes at 40C? Are they OK? It's possible that the water isn't getting up to temperature if the 90C washes aren't working.
You need to pursue this one with the retailer if there is a genuine problem (and it seems like there is a problem.) Have you tried showing some of the washed-but-dirty clothing to the retailer?0 -
yes tried all the settings and the retailer has an attitude problem to put it mildly. think I'm just banging my head against a brick wall.Total Debt 10/5/2009, £2189.10, 1/6/09 £1420.75

The last washer I bought I detested with a passion.
"Super Eco Green Friendly" tripe was peddled. "Uses a fraction of the water of other washers"
That was the problem, it would never fill up enough to actually clean anything. The water would go in and hit the level switch and shut off.
All the water would then soak into the towel (or whatever was in the machine) leaving nothing for the clothes to tumble and splash about in.
I used to empty a watering can of water through the soap dish as soon as the water stopped filling.
It's the only way it would wash.
Sod the Ozone, give me a proper eco hating washer anyday!!0 -

My suggestion is that you write to the retailer setting out the problems with the washer, that you believe that the washer simply does not work properly (this is not to say that it is faulty, merely that it is not fit for purpose) and that you want a refund or replacement. Set a time limit on his response (say 10 days) and if you do not hear anything then contact your local Trading Standards.0 -
Is the water heating up? Have you tried touching the door on the 90deg wash? (only a light touch initially!) It should feel pretty damn hot at that temperature (10deg below boiling!).
Also as above post.
As a mere male, I would be very reluctant to wash colours at 90deg. anyway. I didn't think anybody used that high a setting nowadays. Aren't we told by the detergent manufacturers that 30-40 deg. is high enough? Or should they be taken to task for false claims?0 -
If you truly believe there is a fault with the machine & are getting nowhere with retailer/manufacturer then it may be worth subscibing to the Which? help service to try to get problem resolved. I think it costs about £50 to join, but if it brings the desired results then it will be money well spent.
Have you tried doing an internet search to see if any other purchaser's of this brand of machine have had similar problems with it?The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Wash a red item and a white item together at 90 and see if it runs.
Even better post this question on the forum of Whitegoods
