son learned to ride a bike today - yippee!

he hasn't tried for a couple of years, he's in year 5 now, is nine and three quarters. he plays with kids on bikes but didn't want to try again. he likes scooters and roller skates. he struggles with ball games etc. and is quite clumsy. he likes swimming. i think maybe having a few years of just having fun with the things he felt he excelled at and ignoring the bike completely changed the way he felt about it, he forgot all those negative feelings of failure etc. and having birthday parties and days out skating, ice skating or swimming made him feel less 'rubbish' because he saw his friends struggling, and realised he wasn't the only child in the worls who didn't physically excel at everything.
he'd taken his scooter up to play with his cousins, they're hardly ever on their bikes so it was sort of a novelty, and the cousins all wanted his scooter so he just hopped on a bike and had a go.52% tight0 -
