  • It occurred to me that when McV pay out many MSE'ers will be sending £25 and £50 cheques to each other. If A owes B £25 and B owes C £25 it'll be a lot simpler for A to send C £25.

It would be most efficient if everyone said how much in total they owe to others and how much they are owed by others and we worked out the easiest way to sort it out, but McV won't be paying every win at the same time. However we should be able to work it so that generally speaking only people who owe more to others than they are owed by others actually have to send any money.

Obviously this would require an extra level of trust over that we are already benefiting from and I can understand people not wanting to rely on a third person to send them their money. Erm... can you tell I'm thinking on my feet here? Just a moment...

Okay, what I think I'll be doing when I am in the position of owing A money and being owed the same amount by C (both being MSE'ers of course) is to ask A if they would mind being sent their money by C before proceeding.

A and/or C might then do similarly. It could even go full circle so in the end half a dozen MSE'ers pass their debt or credit on until X is asked to pay an amount to Y when Y also happens to owe that amount to X.

Does that make sense? In effect we each only need to ask our creditors if they would mind our debtors paying them directly. If we say who our debtors are our creditors can choose who they are paid by (or if they are lucky, spot one to whom they owe money so no one has to send any money).

I hope that's clear. It's simple but I think I'm making it sound complicated. It'll save a fair bit of time, hassle and postage...
