who to transfer to?

Currently have an ISA Saver Direct with Halifax. I have £6k in there, of which I have already put in my £3k allowance for this year. Recently noticed they have dropped there interest rate to 4.75%...

Just wondered if anyone can suggest whom to transfer to? Will halifax charge me? Im ideally after the top payer.. but maybe a company whom it is likely to stay high for a while...

Thanks for any help!

You never know when and if a Cash ISA provider is going to change their rates and by how much. The worst scenario is switching for a better rate (and incurring the inevitable loss of a small amount of interest while so doing), only for your new provider to change its rate in turn! I don't know of any way round it other than to find one with a fixed rate for a defined period. It's also important to check whether there are any fees for switching (phoning the Halifax is quickest unless you have a copy of the Terms & Conditions you should have had at the outset).

National Counties is doing a Cash ISA with 5.1% interest and very few restrictions. You would need to check if they accept transfers in.
  • ....... and I dont think National Counties are accepting transfers in .......quote from the PDF on their website

'Apart from the interest rate terms, the two
    differences between the terms and
conditions of our Guaranteed ISA 2006/07
and those of the Second Issue ISA are
that the Guaranteed ISA 2006/07 will not
accept a transfer from other ISA providers
until after 5 April 2007............(etc. etc.)'
