HELP!! Landlord, Police, Financial Investigations!

You are a witness to what you put in the statement. If the police think they may use it against your Landlord, you are now their witness. Even if you think it proves nothing, it could lead to a bail condition which prevents the Landlord contacting you. If this is the case, he would not even be free to reply to you. Please understand that whatever the police have done here, they will not care about your need to communicate with the Landlord. While on bail, if he is, the Landlord is not a free person. The statement that I gave, just went into how I pay my rent, (transfer straight into his bank), how I found the property eg, how was it advertised, how many times have I contacted him. A description of him, how many times has he been to the property. Just silly things like that/ So how would I know what I am a witness to??

If he has bail conditions not to contact the op then its unlikely the op wouldn't know about it, otherwise how would the Police know if he was in breach?
DVardysShadow obviously has had some dealings with the Police in the past. Remember mate if you don't break the law then you have nohing to fear from the Police, somehow though I think you may well have a record! Enlighten us what it is!0 -
What is more disturbing is the fact that I know my landlord was bailed yesterday, yet he has not contacted me to alleviate my worries, he must know that the police have been to see all of his tenants, and taken statements etc from them. Maybe its just me, but if I was him in this situation, that would be the first thing that I would be doing. I have tried to call him, but he is not picking up.
You never know but seeing as how he's been arrested he may just have other things on his mind...

I make this comment from the position of family connections (within three different police forces) spanning over forty years.

You don't have to break the law to have dealings with the police - if you think that you are very naive.0 -

lol its true, its not being naiive.
The aforementioned names wouldn't have had anything to fear if
a) They hadn't have resisted arrest
b) They hadn't have deliberately walked into a riot in a drunken attempt to wind up Police
c) Greens an odd example tbh, strange0 -

I never said that!
I said if you don't break the law you have nothing to fear.
Whats the worst that happens nowadays when the innocent get arrested? No further action. Any miscarriages of justice are down to the courts not the Police.0 -
a] is known not to have resisted arrest, but hey, you believe what the police press office said in the early hours of this story.mrstinchcombe wrote: »lol its true, its not being naiive.

b] while it is possibly quite true he was attempting to wind up the police, that has yet to be established. Again you believe the version put out in the early hours of the story by the police press office. You might believe to that he lived in a bail hostel. But whatever, all that should be feared from the police is due process of law - not physical attack.
c] shows that the police are increasingly beholden to their political masters. This is dangerous.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
