Removing Msconfig items

Hi all I've just a bit of housekeeping to speed up the boot-time and now I've got a load of unticked items under msconfig. I'm fairly certain there's a way to get rid of these items from the list and just leave the ticked ones. Anyone any ideas if I'm going mad or if there is such a utility?

reset msconfig so you dont get the popup window, run autoruns and REMOVE the tick to stop the programs from loading. then when your happy with the unticked items, as in your system works the way you want it, run autoruns again and this time, right click and delete, <this will remove the entry from the registry.
